The demo works really well

The demo works really well and looks similar to bandcamp which is really cool. The only thing I didn't see was that the track doesn't actually load in a player. Rather it displays as a link back to the song on my bandcamp site. Also where can I download this distro to test on localhost? Totally rad stuff man!

Thanks for testing! Yes still

Thanks for testing! Yes still working out how to do a music player. My hope is to just integrate the Media module which should hopefully allow for uploading and hosting the file on your own server -or- allow for embedding the audio from an external site such as bandcamp, soundcloud, or a direct mp3 url.

Still trying to figure out how to make a drupal-org.make and turn this into a downloadable install profile file so that people can test locally. This will be especially important to test out the installation workflow from scratch.

...and pointed him to specific issues in http://drupal.org/project/pushtape Specifically this related post about the overall scope of the project - http://drupal.org/node/1260216

Banghouse also came up with the brilliant idea that a dedicated IRC channel was in order. So #pushtape is now open for business.

After a brief discussion with gusaus on IRC in #drupal-dojo, I setup a #pushtape channel in IRC. Join us if you want to help PUSH the pushtape project along ; )

Ideas for base themes to package with Pushtape?

Posted by zirafa on October 8, 2011 at 8:21pm

I've been using Framework, which I like as a base theme because of it's simplicity as a starter theme. However, banghouse mentioned Omega which looks very interesting too. I think it could be a good choice, but how does it compare to similar themes on DO such as adaptive theme?

Omega is the base theme for at least one other distro

In addition to high praise from the community, it looks like Omega is the base theme for the D7 version of Open Publish.

Hey guys,

Just checking in to see what's the newest happenings with the test site atm? I'd like to have a chance to chat in IRC if you guys are up for it. Maybe just to organize where things are and decide what's next.

Let me know...

Totally curious about this

Posted by discipolo on November 11, 2011 at 5:42pm

is the existing functionality exported in a feature? can you run drush generate-makefile? maybe put a githublink here? would love to help drive this along! currently writing a lot of installprofiles and features ...

Disconnected progress

Posted by gusaus on November 12, 2011 at 12:38am

We definitely seem to be making progress on various pieces of the Pushtape but don't yet have consensus on what should be included in the base profile or access to a common development environment or code we can build on. Everyone in this thread is now contributing and ready to commit more resources. We need to figure out a more efficient way to collaborate.

Hey guys,

Been in touch with a few of you and wanted to check in on the current progress of Pushtape. Perhaps we can have a weekly check in on IRC ? Thanks to all who have put time into this.

lets sprint it

Posted by discipolo on November 19, 2011 at 1:50am

i will hang around more in the channel the following week and am open for crowdsourcing.

way to collaborate

Posted by discipolo on November 20, 2011 at 5:25am

by the way i am trying to figure out how to collaborate on projects too (projects.devel.rosenstrauch.com) check out the presentation about it http://projects.devel.rosenstrauch.com/show/135/slippy

as to what to include: what stories could we turn into shippable products within a twoweek sprint?

you are welcome to use my projecttracker if you dare... http://projects.devel.rosenstrauch.com/bandstream/ this is where i would/will develop my distribution for bands. but beware, the projecttracker is the product of a two week sprint in and of itsself.

@discipolo I've been using http://asana.com lately. I've used atrium for a while and have grown to not like it at all. It often feels clunky and isn't very easy to just scan quickly when I want to know where I am in a project. I'm often spending more time than I should trying to figure out what I need to do next.

I really like the way asana just takes the data (no saving clicks). I like how it is for lack of a better word "tab-like" for locating tasks and task details. It's pretty simple and I always know where I am in my workspace and where I am in a project's lifespan.

Looks Nice

Posted by discipolo on November 20, 2011 at 9:57pm

If you create a pushtape project on asana invite me! anything that works. always glad to try out new tools for community projects

Do we have a clear plan?

Posted by gusaus on November 20, 2011 at 10:59pm

Asana looks cool and I couldn't help to notice it's used and endorsed by Chapter Three, some of the same people behind Pantheon and Pushtape. Tools aside, we still need to come to a consensus of what a base profile should be and solidify a plan to accomplish.

Would be great if all people interested or already working on this could chime in so we avoid a good bit of unnecessary duplication.

Any scrum masters around?

Posted by discipolo on November 20, 2011 at 11:41pm

reduce this to 160 chars and tweet it around! also post this in relevant groups (e.g. projectmanagement)

this is a great example project for figuring out how to take charge of community projects and collaborate. a lot of preliminary work has been done, there are at least 3 people willing to invest energy into coding but how to make decisions and delegate tasks? drupal distribution for musicians, bands and labels needs a scrum manager!

join us in #pushtape or http://drupal.org/node/1260216#base or http://drupalkata.com/music/node/2281

we need to:
1. find a scrum manager
2. decide on a platform (pantheon/asana/drupalkata)
3. get in touch with zirafa/farsheed
4. define tasks for the base features
5. create the distribution and base features

Hello

Posted by zirafa on December 1, 2011 at 2:56am

I've committed initial code for the base features package.

Please see http://drupal.org/project/pushtape_features and http://drupal.org/node/1356858/release. Make sure to read the README.txt file included. There are some recommended settings that need to be manually set. The distro version will automate these settings. Testing this features package would be much appreciated, please use the issue queue for it to file bug reports and contribute patches.

The next step is trying to find any designers interested in helping and getting them in the loop. Then that design can be implemented as a theme to include with the features package, and I can create a drupal.org make file to package it all up.

Contribute your Personas

Posted by zirafa on February 21, 2012 at 1:18am

I'm in the middle of the design process and am creating Personas to highlight the most important activities that will be performed on a Pushtape site.

What are Personas?
"Personas are fictitious people who represent your key customers and illustrate their unique desires and motivations on your site. These Personas will eventually define your sites functionality as well as prioritize it."

Contribute your own Pushtape Persona and post it here - it's easy and fun to do!
