What Australian Universities are using Drupal?

Events happening in the community are now at Drupal community events on www.drupal.org.

We're just compiling a list of Australian Universities using Drupal, and are sure to not know about a lot. If you know of any, please list them in reply to this thread.

Cheers!

USyd? and Drupal

Posted by lucid7net on August 19, 2011 at 4:53am

Sorry guys,

Drupal is not used to any great extent at Sydney University. They use a commercial and I guess expensively licensed CMS, Interwoven Teamsite. Web and print production seem to set not just the branding - understandable - but also severely limit the functionality and look of what individual units and faculties can do. The CMS is almost universally loathed at Sydney.

The rumour is that they are looking for a new CMS now is probably the time to strike. They need someone to go in and sell it to them. I have some ideas of a philosophical approach and a further idea that may appeal to the right area of the University.

It may not be used on the corporate site, but its definitely in other areas. The faculty of pharmacy uses it quite a bit and they hosted/sponsored the last 3 drupalcamps, so its not that foreign.

At RMIT Drupal is being used for the Vietnam uni site. Our area (EduTAG) is using it for courseware development and have around 40 Drupal sites. We also used it for our iTunes U platform.

The ANU uses Drupal extensively, through a quasi, non-official distribution. It forms the majority of new or redeveloped websites over the last two years.

I've been working with Taniwha Solutions on Drupal sites at MDHS at unimelb.

Media Insights has been working with various unimelb departments for a while too. I think I posted a list with links somewhere already... here => http://groups.drupal.org/node/28358#comment-482229

I've used a Google search on "inurl:edu.au inurl:node" to try and find other Drupal sites in AU universities. I think this method only picks up sites that haven't optimised their URLs to be plain English, so probably isn't ideal, but it's a start.

But, based on this you can credibly claim "Two thirds of Australian universities use Drupal" (26 of 39 AU uni domains) to varying degrees ;-)

Not a university, but part of an institution that will soon be promoted to university status. (Long story.)

DrupalFinder

Hi

This is a new site I just launched, which helps to find Drupal sites. http://drupalfinder.com

To find Australian universities using Drupal, select "Ends with" and enter ".edu.au" for the host, and check the box "Drupal sites only".

This database is only new, so don't be surprised to not find all of them straight away. A new site (Drupal or otherwise) is being added approximately every 1-5 seconds, so check back often.
