I'm not offering to organize

Posted by cridenour on September 11, 2008 at 3:26am

I'm not offering to organize the entire event but if we want this to happen, lets start making a few decisions!

Very interested

Posted by paulreads@drupal.org on September 11, 2008 at 3:59am

Thanks for posting this. I'm looking forward to meeting some other drupal developers in town.

November best but I'll try to make anything work

May as well get an idea where a good meeting spot is. I'm in Mt. Washington.

The sooner the better

Posted by cjdavis on September 11, 2008 at 4:15am

... and we don't need to organize much more than:

  • when?
    how about Tuesday September 16th.
  • where?
I'd suggest Panera Bread - several locations in Cincinnati, with free wifi.

Meeting room at the Paxton Road Panera

Posted by cjdavis on September 11, 2008 at 4:25am

There is an actual meeting room at the Hyde Park Panera, I will check into the requirements for reserving it.

On second thought, it would be more realistic to plan on this in about 2 weeks - say September 24th?

If you are interested in a meet up, speak up!

Sounds good

Both the date and the location are good for me.

Sept. 24th

Posted by phil-roberto on September 11, 2008 at 1:51pm

The day of September 24th looks pretty good for me. What times are we tossing about? Lunch? Later?

September 24th also sounds

Posted by cridenour on September 11, 2008 at 2:48pm

September 24th also sounds great. Let us know if you need anything from us.

I'm in

September 24 works well for me. What time? Noon?

Meeting room reserved - September 25th, 7pm

Posted by cjdavis on September 13, 2008 at 2:20am

I have mixed news.

To have exclusive use of the meeting room at the Paxton Rd Panera, they required the purchase of 50ドル in gift cards. They are happy to break this up into multiple cards - ie, 5 10ドル cards is fine.

The meeting room is not available during lunch time - 11am - 2pm. They prefer not to reserve it during dinner time - 5pm - 8pm, but are flexible on this.

The room was already reserved for the evening of the 24th, so I went ahead and got it for Thursday, September 25th from 7pm until close (9pm I believe).

So, the questions are:

  • Is Thursday the 25th at 7pm still feasible for people? How many people?
  • who wants to step up to buy some of the gift cards? I'll take 25ドル worth - I'll certainly spend it.

I'm thinking about creating a group for this on meetup.com. There are 9 people interested in a CMS group in Cincinnati there, which would be helpful to build up the attendance. But that will cost a little money - 19ドル/month or less. Would that be a waste? Any opinions?

either date works for me

Posted by dunkoh on September 13, 2008 at 3:29am

I'm available for either of these dates at that time and will be attending
I'm up for taking on a little of the gift card $ if needed (peace offering to the wife for her to go out...)
:-)

Maybe see how things go before getting into meetup.com stuff

Yea, the 25th at 7 works

Posted by cridenour on September 16, 2008 at 5:04pm

Yea, the 25th at 7 works great for me. I will buy the other 25ドル so lets not worry about that anymore.

I agree with dunkoh - Let's wait on meetup.com.

I will be there

See you guys on the 25th at 7PM at the Paxton Rd. Panera. I know the full amount is spoken for, but I am also willing to buy a gift card if either of you would prefer to buy less than 25ドル.

interested

Future meeting idea

Posted by davistv on September 23, 2008 at 2:52pm

Hi everyone,

I just found out about this today, but can't make it the 25th. But for a future meeting idea, I'm wondering if there is any interest in discussing how to write modules for Drupal? I wrote and published a (very simple) module earlier this year: http://drupal.org/project/user_edit_notify

I was planning to do a presentation on this to the Cincinnati Programmers Guild in the next few months, maybe we could join forces for this topic? The CPG meets at MAX Technical Training in Mason, no gift card purchase required, and they have nice rooms and projectors.

Cheers,
Troy

Planning on Attending

Posted by captaindav on September 23, 2008 at 5:50pm

I am planning on attending... see you there!

davistv: I would be willing

Posted by cridenour on September 23, 2008 at 6:45pm

davistv: I would be willing to work with you on that. Most of my modules have been for custom sites but go as far as integrating with external search engines, mimicking slideshare.net, and a more lightweight integration with LDAP.

Feel free to email me or start a new topic in this group to discuss.

Event created

Posted by cjdavis on September 23, 2008 at 8:40pm

I completely forgot to create an actual event for the meeting, here it is: http://groups.drupal.org/node/15224

davistv: sorry you can't make this meeting, my apologies for not posting the event sooner. A session on writing modules would be great for next time - whether it's in conjunction with the Programmer's Guild, or maybe you test your presentation on us first ;)

I have no attachment to Panera - it's centrally located, has a meeting room, and free wifi. If we can find something similar without the requirement of purchases, that would be great. Mason is a ways out, but we'll get a better idea of where people are coming from on Thursday - maybe Mason makes sense.

Planning to attend

Posted by glenbo on September 23, 2008 at 8:55pm

I need to be at an event near the airport on Thursday, but I hope to be able to make it to this meeting by 7pm. I'm happy to buy a 10ドル gift card.

Drupal module development topic

Posted by davistv on September 23, 2008 at 10:07pm

I like the idea of collaborating with Chris on this topic, I sent him a message to discuss further.

cjdavis: No need to meet at MAX if that doesn't jive with the attendees' geographical distribution. But I'd love get the guild involved, it's a nice overlap with their programming education objectives.

Looking forward to hearing how the 25th works out!

Cheers,
Troy

I'll be there

My love for Drupal and french onion soup in a bread bowl won't let me miss this evenings meeting.
