Possible dates for BADCamp 08 (Oct 11-12?)

Events happening in the community are now at Drupal community events on www.drupal.org.

The discussion for BADCamp 08 got underway at yesterday's BDUG meeting. I followed up with one of our administrators to get the dates of weekends in late September - early November when space is available, and there is no Cal football happening on campus (so parking is less of an issue than it was last year). It seems like there are two prime dates: Sept 20th & 21st, and October 11th & 12th. Of these two I am leaning towards October, so we are not too close to DrupalCon Szeged (which is the last week of August).

What do other folk think? There isn't anything posted for the weekend in the g.d.o events calendar, but do people know about other huge open source events that would interfere?

badcamp! woo!

Personally, I don't think it's too big of a deal to have BADCamp a month after DrupalCon Szeged - in fact, it might be a nice opportunity to relay some of the info/knowledge/momentum from DrupalCon to those of use here who won't be able to attend. IMHO, the sooner the next BADCamp the better! I'm terrible at waiting for things.

Just out of curiosity, what is the g.d.o. events calendar?

I think I'm likely to be available for either sets of dates, but October is slightly more likely than September, as the Sept dates are right around my birthday.

Just a heads up, LADrupal just decided last week that we're going to hold the LA camp Sept 13/14. I'm sure we have a lot of guests that will be attending both so I thought I'd just relay this info.

Seems like another vote for October.

Weekdays vs Weekends

Thanks for taking this on again.

DrupalCamp Seattle just ran this weekend; they planned it for Friday + Saturday which I thought was an interesting way to give people with different schedules an opportunity to attend. You don't end up committing your entire weekend, and it's only one day off from work. Interestingly, attendance was higher on Friday than on Saturday.

I really like the idea of a Friday/Saturday camp, so you can catch the work folk and the hobbiest, but the on-campus spaces are much harder to claim on weekdays.

Claiming spaces

Is it still harder on Fridays? I haven't been a Berkeley student for a few years, but I know there are fewer classes scheduled on Fridays. Also, as an option, have you tried the Academic Services in the residence halls? I know they used to rent out space. They've got several conference rooms at Foothill, plus even more in Units 1-3.

Just trying to think of some more creative ways to get space ...

+1 for Fri/Sat if we can swing it.

I missed last years BADCamp but would love to attend this year. The October Fri/Sat dates would be great.
