Event type:
User group meeting

Greetings Bay Area Drupallers,

Join us this Thursday to hear a talk by Chris Bryan, of Gravitek Lab. Chris is a long time BDUG member and on of the BADCamp organizers. Here is his description of his talk:

"We'll walk through a new networking and collaboration platform (http://dreamfish.com) that Gravitek Labs is about to launch. We'll look at the major components that make up the site such as cck types, views, panels 2, and theming as well as custom work extending panels 2 that was done for the project.

If there is time left over we'll discuss the future of automated site configuration, install profiles and the patterns module (http://drupal.org/project/patterns). The patterns module is a proof of concept showing a possible approach to automated site configurations. We'd like to have a group discussion about the users needs and the best possible approach to implementing those needs in Drupal."

BDUG is the Berkeley Drupal Users Group. This group is open to everyone in the area who is interested in learning, teaching or networking about Drupal. We meet monthly on the UC Berkeley campus.

When: Once a month, over lunchtime, on the 4th Thursday of the month.

Where: 290 Hearst Memorial Mining Building (290 HMMB), on the UC Berkeley Campus

Directions & Map:
This room is located next to CITRIS headquarters, so you can use these directions: http://www.citris-uc.org/about/visitors/directions
Annotated map of campus: http://drupal.citris-uc.org/files/bdug/large_map.gif

Parking can be a challenge around campus. The closest area to look is around Hearst & Euclid. Also, Hearst Mining is about a 15 minute walk from the downtown Berkeley BART station.

Too funny! I saw this and thought bummer, I'm not driving up to Berkeley until Friday... so I'm going to miss it.

So to answer your question from my perspective it SHOULD BE Monday June 30th. :-P

but ya, I read it earlier today and took it to mean Jun 26th.

Whoops

Yes indeed, this Thursday, not last month.
My apologies to anyone who traveled back in time to last month's meeting and was disappointed that Chris wasn't speaking :)

Hi, can I come and talk about LinuxWorld in August and Dries's visit in July?

I am trying to recruit people to help with LinuxWorld, and get an event organized for Dries's visit in July.

Cheers,
Kieran

Sorry - I couldn't resist. ;-)

If you need a space in July, we're always game. Depending on how many people you expect.

Then again, Zeitgeist was fun last time!

Event in July

Hey, Kieran. We can throw the event at my place if you like. I'm not in walking distance of the show floor, but it's about a 10-minute Muni ride. (I live near Church and Market.)

I'm already signed up to help at Linuxworld, BTW.

How was the Patterns demo?

How was the Patterns demo? Is there a video of the meeting?

It was a very cool talk!

Posted by starbow on June 27, 2008 at 4:23pm

No video, but I hope Chris will post his notes, and a link to the ongoing discussion on the topic. I think something like patterns (which at it's core, gives you the ability to easily script a series of interactions with Drupal forms) is very much needed.
