I'm new to this group.
We've been running a multi-site hosting environment for a few years - small sites, small traffic, so easy to maintain. One problem that we haven't solved yet is how to configure sendmail on the sites to send from the domain of each sub-site. Mail comes out with appropriated "from", but Sender is listed as the www user of our mail server.
Has anyone dealt with this issue?

New here as well, Bram,
I don't know whether this helps at all, but we have used another module "webform" http://drupal.org/project/webform to construct the HTML-fields such as first/last-name in addition to just collecting email addresses.
And on the Webform's admin piece, you can insert PHP code to manipulate the DNS-names, etc...
I would imagine there are better ways, though.

Have you tried the smtp module? it can be configured for each drupal install. (hope I understood your question)

Mail comes out with appropriated "from", but Sender is listed as the www user of our mail server. The contact form Recipients are not receiving the emails because the spam filters are blocking them.
Anyone conquered this, the smtp module is still in beta for drupal6, is it reliable.
Use the SMTP Module
The way to get around this is with the SMTP module - that allows you to specify which accounts to send from how.
