Hi all,

Do anyone know of any wireframe stencils or other IA library for Drupal 6/7 ?

I have been searching but haven't had the luck of finding any.

Top Notch Themes made some available for Balsamiq on their site at http://fusiondrupalthemes.com/story/100325/easier-wireframing-drupal-com.... Or alternatively you can find them at http://mockupstogo.net/drupal-cms-components. Balsamiq itself is a paid application, though. But it has great video tutorials and the demo was fun, much less of a learning curve than AI, obviously because it's just a sketching app.

Alternatively, if you are very much into fixed sites and mass production with grids like 960, omega and the lot, you may want to check out the template for Fireworks by Chapter Three: http://www.chapterthree.com/greyboxing. They had presentations on this on all drupalcons btw. Fireworks too is a paid application and incredibly expensive at that. Also pre-CS5 it is impossible to work with because of its instability. Learning Curve is a bit steeper than with Balsamiq but you can build your end product on top of your template.

But have you thought of building dummy sites in Drupal itself? The good thing about that is that you think of your functionality and content before you really work out your design. And if you do it a lot and have your sysadmin set up a nice aegir dev box for you with some proper back-up functionality to wipe it if necessary, it can become quite a fast process with the result completely exportable.

Edit

Heh, i still had this page open so i didn't spot eriordan's comment -- which i now see is on the wiki, sorry, confused.

I have never found Fireworks

I have never found Fireworks to be particularly unstable (no more so than any other application) and I have been using it for more years than I care to remember, at least back to Fireworks 3 circa 2000. Certainly stating its "impossible to use" pre CS5 is absurd. I currently have CS4 and its very good.

You are absolutely right. I

You are absolutely right. I did some research and supposedly the stability issues for CS4 were resolved with patches since the last time I used the program:
5/6/2009 Fireworks CS4 10.0.3 updater: crash patch for Windows & OSX
28/4/2010 Fireworks CS4 10.0.4 updater: extra stability patch for OSX
I stand corrected.

Balsamiq stencil

Hi

Thanks for your reply. I know the Chapter 3 grey box templates - they are great for standard websites.

The balsamiq stencil looks great - quite simple however.

For large scale projects dummy sites are not suffient. For rapid prototyping I would need a more agile approach.

It would bed great if there was an Axure library for Drupal. Anyone interested in building one with me/my company?
