Early next year I'm going to be looking for a Drupal Development contractor to take some of my projects or collaborate. I am a solo full stack Drupal developer for a Kentucky utility company here in Louisville. I'm not sure I can say the name, but you can look me up on linked-in if you want to know where I work, corporate policies and such. There will most likely be an RFP sent out, but I would love to work with someone local. We are on Acquia and using D8, Docksal, PHPStorm. Moving towards Acquia BLT, GitHub, Acquia Pipelines workflow. Also refactoring for Drupal code standards compliance.

I am a beginning to intermediate Drupal developer looking to link up and perhaps collaborate with other Drupal developers in Louisville, KY and other parts of Kentuckiana.

Drupal 8 will get an official release on November 19th, 2015, and we want you to help us celebrate. We’ll have a quick presentation about what’s new in Drupal 8 and why you should care, and you’ll have the opportunity to play around with it. Food and drink will be provided! The event will take place in Louisville's awesome hackerspace, LVL1.

We have started planning the Drupal 8 release party in Louisville, KY. The date will be November 19th, so save the date. More details will come later, with an actual event listing.

Last week, we talked about easy ways to improve the admin interface. This week we will talk about parallels with Wordpress. This would be a great time to attract and invite some Wordpress developers/themers who want to dip their toes in Drupal.

Here's my scenario: I have a custom content type for an event page. It has a taxonomy field for the venue. The taxonomy vocabulary provides fields for an address, as well as for geocoding and mapping. Using EVA, I attached a view the event page to show the address and map from the taxonomy term.

Now the question: In the event content type, the venue field uses a taxonomy autocomplete (tagging) widget. What is the best way to collect the address from the user when a new venue is entered?

Looking for a faster way to install Drush and other useful command line tools?

Any ideas for generating QR codes and using them to check-in attendees in Drupal? Unfortunately, this will be in 6.x.

The City of Louisville is hosting a hack-a-thon on Feb 23rd.

The event is 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at LVL1, located at 814 E. Broadway, and is open to all with unique ideas.

We had a great turnout at our "rebooted" Louisville Drupal meeting on December 15th with a total of six in attendance, more than some of our first meetings last year!

General discussions took place with topics such as:

• Introduction & areas of expertise
• Features module
• Responsive designs
• Drush

...just to name a few.

Our goal is to meetup on the last Saturday of every month with a possibility of additional meetings in between, schedules permitting.

I am proposing that we slate our meetings for 2 hours. Thoughts?
