Event is held at the National Institutes of Health campus in Bethesda, Maryland.

Configuration is a key concept in Drupal 8 that sits at the intersection of backend development, dependency management, theming, site building, and (in)sanity. Already the community has seen several significant shifts in the recommended "best practices" and with the announcement of a second configuration management initiative, there is no clear end in sight!

Still, those of us that work with Drupal 8 every day have to manage configuration, and we have to do it in a reusable and stable way.

Drupal is an extremely flexible and powerful system. Unfortunately, it is not always intuitive. Learning the basic building blocks for assembling a Drupal site and how they relate to each other is useful to start building sites having a broad overview of the system. We had a generic D8 panel last year that was very well received – this year we want to focus on the migration of existing Drupal sites into D8 and all the thoughts and decisions that go into that.

Well, then if you can’t make it to BAH on Friday for the Drupal4Gov half day, maybe join us on Saturday January 27th at Government CIO Magazine for a Drupal Global Training Day Docker workshop. This event will take place regardless of government operational status this coming week.

Drupal GovCon - the premier government Drupal event, and one of the biggest Drupal conferences on the East coast is open for registration and session submissions! This annual conference features Drupal community leaders from around the world and sessions covering cutting edge Drupal topics.

Drupal GovCon brings together people from all over the country who use, develop, design, and support the Drupal platform with a focus in government. Although there is a focus on government, there is also a heavy representation of attendees from the private sector as well.

Drupal GovCon is the heartbeat of the DC Drupal community. We come together for three days every year, to learn, improve, and innovate as a community. Drupal GovCon will feature a full schedule of educational, contribution, and networking opportunities.

Why attend Drupal GovCon?

So, we were able to add Tuesday training this year!

GovCon training for Tuesday includes Performance tuning and testing and a sort of Hello Drupal 8 type course. Another one is Behat testing, project management and you can even take a half day on Security from one of our keynotes!!

Thanks to our awesome community, we had over 200 session submissions! How crazy is that??? We worked with our speakers, moved some times around to adjust for speaker schedules, and now have a final schedule! As with life, all things are subject to change, but we’re feeling confident that this is as close to final as you can get when you are a month out.

If anyone has done any research or worked w/ a marketing group to figure out how their local citizens and businesses prefer to interact w/ their local government to get things done, pay, get notifications, find out about proposed city development, learn about upcoming meetings of interest, etc. please post the findings here.
