iMIS

I'm working on a project that will use CAS as the authentication, but iMIS for authorization. I just wrote the ldap_authorization module for the ldap project. An imis authorization module would be very similar in architecture:

1. have a site admin define a set of rules for mapping a drupal user to an imis/ldap user and then an imis/ldap user to drupal roles, og groups ids, etc. In LDAP the rules are based on the ldap user entry attributes. In iMIS the mapping rules might include any number of imis attributes such as the GetParticipations webservice.

2. When a user authenticates,

We are in the planning phase of a sight redesign. The non-profit that I work for has been using iMIS for 3 years now. I was excited to find a community that was discussing Drupal/iMIS. A business associate suggested Drupal. I was excited to see a community that was discussing Drupal/iMIS, it has made the decision in the drupal direction looking very promising.

Would you share more with me about what you have been able to accomplish for the product sales and event registration processes?

Have you used the iMIS_Authentication module?

iMIS Authentication is a module that allows a Drupal site to authenticate with an iMIS system. Users will not need a separate web ID and password for each system.

The module is currently live at one customer, for Drupal 5.x.

Should be fairly easy to port it to Drupal 6.x though.

Over the last year, some Drupal users have expressed interest in integrating Drupal with iMIS, a membership and financial management system used by non-profits, membership organizations, and educational institutions. We have successfully implemented a custom solution for an ongoing project that links Drupal to iMIS. The solution includes a custom module for integrating Drupal & iMIS. We plan to release this module to the Drupal community once we have completed testing, made the module more suitable for general use, and prepared detailed documentation. Since the module is not likely to be ready until Spring 2009, we felt that the Drupal and iMIS communities might benefit from a summary of our approach and progress to date.

The PDF cites a desire to integrate iMIS authentication and Drupal

I am about to embark, in the next week or so, on a proof-of-concept connecting Drupal to iMIS. Initially I will focus on integrating Drupal authentication with iMIS, and retrieving customer data into a web form.

If anyone has any words of wisdom before I start this, I am all ears.
