In the spirit of Drupal Training Day I'd like to offer a chance to learn from a pro. My buddy from Colorado is coming over and he has graciously offered to help out anyone who might be interested in starting the Drupal learning curve. This will be about Drupal 8, so if you have any questions about the migration from D7 to D8 I'm sure he could help with that too, though the primary focus will be on D8.
We'll do it somewhere along the Kohala Coast and I'll bring beer and fish. Drop us a line and let us know if you're interested as attendance will drive location and fish.

I see there hasn't been any posts here in a while. I was wondering if there are any Drupal Dev's on Oahu or any other island that how would be interested in doing a Drupal meetup?

I'm new to Hawaii and have found a fair amount of Wordpress and Ruby developers but no Drupalers. Any interest in crawling out from behind our keyboard and having a few drinks? Just throwing it out there. Could be a good opportunity to network, talk shop etc. Besides who doesn't like a good happy hour? Reply if your interested, I will coordinate it if there is enough interest, I'd prefer downtown Honolulu or Ala Moana area but anywhere on Oahu will work.

We are very excited to announce that Drupal Downunder Sydney will be run as the first ever DrupalCon in the Asia Pacific Region.

DrupalCon Sydney will be held February 6-9, 2013 at the Crowne Plaza Coogee only meters from the beach. The event will be filled with high quality sessions, BoFs, training and more - all with the theme of "Growing Drupal Downunder".

Anyone from Hawaii going to DrupalCon in Denver in a couple of weeks? I'd love to meet up. (Moving to Hawaii in a year so eager to meet you all!)

I am trying to delve into learning Drupal by starting off with Drupal Gardens before I download the core program and do a self install.

I am looking for a FREE Drupal Gardens video to watch in hopes of getting me up to speed. The Drupal 7 Essential Training on lynda.com looks great, but I am going to most likely be dishing out some $$ to them in the future and would rather be up to speed before I do that so as to make the most out of my monthly membership.

Any suggestions?

I have 10+ years experience with GIS (Geographic Information Systems) and have recently decided that I am ready to start exploring a new career path. A friend of mine has a business which revolves around web development using Drupal for client companies. He gave me the run down on what he does and it sounds very cool. My goal is to be able to work remotely and feel as if working with Drupal will allow me to create that reality for myself.
