Knight Drupal Initiative launch

The Knight Drupal Initiative, started by the Knight Foundation, funds development proposals reviewed by the community. Individuals and organizations (even for profit ones) all around the world are welcome to send in a proposal. http://groups.drupal.org/knight-drupal-initiative.

Important warning for contrib maintainers

http://lists.drupal.org/pipermail/development/2008-May/029947.html Derek Wright, Drupal's release system guru, says "I've noticed quite a few projects that seem to think the best time to make a new official release is after every CVS commit. While I'm happy to see people actually making official releases, please don't do this." To sum the post: Only make a new official release when it's really worth it for everyone to upgrade.
