Dove-tailing off of recent activity, I'm bumping up the Edmonton Drupal user group. Second Tuesday of each month - however tbh I haven't gone the last couple months. That's probably okay because for plenty of months before that it was just me, sometimes my wife, and one time my dog. They've closed the patio for the winter though, so he's out.

Perhaps having an annual or bi-annual Drupal User Group event could be more in order. It might not be the Drupal hay day anymore.

Hello Western Canadian Drupalers, I've recently moved back to western Canada after a 15 year absence.

I'm looking to drum up some activity in the west and to grow my network (currently I've spoken to one Drupalista in Alberta) and eventually do recruiting and offer on the job training.

BCI work originating in the UK involving a wearable brain scanner, has come to both Calgary and Drupal 8. Software development and integration work is being carried out in a project evaluating interaction using an eCommerce environment. For a demo project I had suggested doing an environment where you think of an item and it is purchased using drupal commerce.

Drupal North is a FREE 3-day conference focusing on a variety of Drupal related topics and the Community that drives the Drupal Project.

We are moving back the 2017 Drupal North Summit to August 25th-27th.

We’ve made this change as we realized the original July date was not the ideal timing for the event. Out of consideration, respect, and in support for other Drupal events in the general region, we have chosen to pick an alternative date.

We know it’s always a challenge with the community growing so fast and with events such as these Summits, Camps, and Cons, popping up all over the world, we can’t appease everyone and there may be some closely timed events. But, we are going to try our best!

Thanks to everyone who participated in the election, both nominees and voters. We (the community) truly appreciate that you are interested in the success and progression of Drupal North and we are excited to see how many votes were cast. What a great voter turnout!

That said, we now have our first official Board of Directors for Drupal North!

I am hoping to try and bring together more folks from Canada and rally the troops for getting more people involved in the DrupalNorth initiative.

With an inaugural success last year in Toronto we are continuing to build momentum with this years DrupalNorth in Montreal (http://www.drupalnorth.org/). I want to build it to be even bigger for when we celebrate it's 3rd anniversary in conjunction with Canada's 150th Anniversary, as we host DrupalNorth 2017 in Ottawa.

Go from zero to hero in five days. Learn how to build a website with Drupal from top to bottom. This training is broken up into two parts. Day 1-2, we'll cover site building topics. It's important to vote in this election as this position will be the representative for the Drupal community on the Board.

Any other Alberta people going to be in Austin and fancy trying to catch up for some chatting and some beers. Ok so am based in BC but so far from the West coast that am in Alberta!

I will also be in Denver the week before drupalcon should any one be following a strange route like myself and want to meet up with a follow Canadian Drupaler.

I'm just curious if there's Drupal meetups planned in Calgary?

After looking at the current REST environment for Drupal 8 it was apparent if better efficiency was needed, then some custom development would be required. I mentioned in a previous post about the work going on in Intermedia which spawned the development of the Advanced Tour and Intermedia modules. One of the projects I'm currently working on which involves the Raspberry Pi running Drupal 8 will evolve to running on a 2.2 Ghz Snapdragon ARM made immediate adjustments to the REST environment necessary.

The embedded link shows current state of Intermedia support for the Advanced Tour for Drupal 8.

A full Intermedia module is providing integration for the Advanced Tour, Help system, and will eventually provide a loosely coupled environment for Steve Rainbow's GPS stuff. I had a chance to work with Steve last week and he expects to complete testing shortly.
