Adobe Technologies

Events happening in the community are now at Drupal community events on www.drupal.org.

Using Drupal as a back-end CMF/CMS and Adobe technologies for client-tiers (front-ends) can be a daunting task, especially if you're new to either platform. This group is available to all who are interested or are already integrating Drupal with things like Adobe AIR, Flex or Flash (ActionScript), Spry, PDF, Adobe Media Player, LiveCycle, Contribute, Kuler, and other technologies from Adobe and their Adobe Labs.

To get started, join this group, and check out these associating projects and groups:

  • Services module - http://drupal.org/project/services - The services module package was created out of a need for a standardized solution of integrating external applications with Drupal, specifically Flash and Flex applications.
  • AMFPHP module - http://drupal.org/project/amfphp - This module provides AMFPHP support to Services.

Review of Drupal Multimedia by Aaron Winborn, Packt Publishing

Posted by nbluto on January 30, 2009 at 10:30pm

Drupal is a powerful tool for building amazingly scalable websites quickly and simply. The use of multimedia in Drupal has posed challenges to many users and developers of all abilities. Drupal Multimedia addresses the main questions regarding how to implement video, image, and audio content in a way that is elegant for the developer, as well as the end user. The language of the book is straight to the point, and provides a framework to practice building an assortment of multimedia sites using a variety of modules in the context of test or example sites.

CS4 Party site launched with Zen Theme

Posted by Chris Charlton on September 26, 2008 at 10:38pm

Earlier this week I launched http://cs4party.com to promote the celebration our Los Angeles Adobe User Groups are holding for Adobe. I used Strata 3D, exported to H.264 video which I converted to FLV with Flash CS3, and made a SWF header to play and loop the FLV video. Zen was used entirely, so I have a cs4party sub-zen-theme that is literally my first public Zen theme, ever. FYI, the site is Drupal 6.

Introducing the Dash Media Player for Drupal CMS

Posted by travist on August 27, 2008 at 1:34am

Hello fellow Adobe enthusiasts...

This is a cross-post of a forum topic that I recently added about a brand new media player that I built for Drupal CMS (http://drupal.org/node/295597)... Please forgive me for the cross-post, but I felt this topic has much relevance in this group. I basically created a Media Player that uses Services and the Views module to create and manage media playlists using Drupal CMS. I also created a project page at http://www.drupal.org/project/dashplayer, and here is the homepage for the player... http://www.tmtdigital.com/project/dash_player. This player works with most if not all media modules in Drupal, and is able to query your views using remoting technology to construct its playlists on the fly. There are many other features, but those are discussed in the forum topic.

SEO love for Flex/Flash RIA's

Posted by Chris Charlton on July 29, 2008 at 4:17pm

Adobe teamed up with Google and Yahoo! to "enhance the searchability of SWF content by helping their spiders playback SWFs in the Flash Player runtime. The project runs SWF files within web spiders and allows all contents within a SWF file to be read by both major search engines. The cool part is that this also covers dynamic data loaded in from requests to a server, these are typically ignored in both AJAX and SWF applications.

AS3, Flex coders looking to collaborate on Zen like flex theme?

Posted by travischristopher on May 12, 2008 at 10:40pm

Anyone interested in collaborating on Zen like flex theme, specifically someone who can code the AS3 DTO's? The idea being to model the project after the features and functionality currently available in the Zen theme, but built in flex.

Its my feeling that if we had one good starter theme for flex it would allow designers and themers to more easily get started creating more advanced flex themes.

I'm also wondering if there might be some overlap or lessons we can learn from the patterns.module. http://drupal.org/project/patterns

Drupal API extension for Dreamweaver

Posted by Chris Charlton on April 17, 2008 at 4:09am

XTND.US releases early preview download of their Drupal API extension for Dreamweaver. Reduce typing and get past plain text editing of Drupal files in Dreamweaver. If you are into Drupal and use, or want to use, Dreamweaver then you really need this extension. Let us save you tons of time by reducing keystrokes with our Drupal API code hints integration for Dreamweaver (API versions 5 & 6). The extension provides code hints and code coloring for every Drupal API method in Drupal 5 & 6.

Not only does it provide full Drupal API code hints (5.x & 6.x) in PHP files, but it also adds support for common Drupal file types, like .module, .theme, .info, .tal, etc., provides code coloring and code hints while editing those file types, treating them similar to common PHP pages. No more tweaking Dreamweaver's configuration manually, just download this free extension and makes Dreamweaver more useful when working on Drupal modules and themes.

View a demo video or download the extension at http://xtnd.us/dreamweaver/drupalapi.

Only local images are allowed.

How can China be of services to Drupal -- practically?

Posted by john.zhu on April 16, 2008 at 6:50pm

We have been pondering about how to best evangelize China into the Drupal community -- and in droves.

After operating in China for two years, and despite of our best trying such as holding the Drupal BootCamp event in Beijing http://www.drupalchina.org/node/3638, our biggest challenge is the practicality of getting Chinese acquainted with Drupal -- BEFORE we can even talk about having them participate into the DROP program, let alone directly contribute into module or theme writing.
