Thank you for the PR!!! However, I think this is a breaking change, so we can't merge it until a major version release.

@ota-meshi Can we get this merged? It's a simple change and many dependency updates will continuosly create conflicts 😅.
Perhaps it's also a good idea to have as fewer breaking changes as possible between major versions to make adopting these changes to consumers as easy as possible instead of making a huge release with too many breaking changes.
