Unchanged
Lowercase layer (no modifier keys) & Uppercase layer (Shift)
- All base layer and Shift layer keys are unchanged.
- (Kay has not been replaced with Kappa.)
- (Κappa maκes the script looκ much more intriguing (to me!) but using it causes the basic κeyboard layout to be unusable for normal English, and it inteferes with searching and with Find (
Ctrl+F). Sadly the use of κappa has to be abandoned.)

Changes
- All caron diacritics for consonants have been replaced with overdot diacritics.
- This is to reflect the orthographic updates in NewEng.
- As the caron's effect is widespread throughout English phonology, a smaller and more visually appealing diacritic has been chosen to replace the caron:
- š → ṡ ž → ż
- x̌ → ẋ ẍ̌ → ẍ̇
- ť → ṫ ď → ḋ
- ç̌ → ç̇ ǧ → ġ
- ч̌ → ч̇ ʞ̌ → ʞ̇
- The caron diacritic modifier is still accessible via
AltGr+V, as in all previous layout versions. This is because the caron is still used on vowels to indicate that they are unaffected by a proceeding letter R. In effect, the caron protects the vowel sound such that it retains the same sound as its default value.- worry → wury → wǒry
- current → cǔrent
- borrow → bǒrōw
- carry → cǎry
Caps Lock
- Numbers of the NumRow are now accessible via
AltGr+Caps Lock!- This allows for easier input of multiple numbers.
- You still need to use
AltGrat the same time, but this is a necessary sacrifice in order to be able to place the additional NewEng letters on the keyboard as primary citizens.
Feedback
- I am open to feedback about any aspect of this keyboard layout!
- I have tried to place the NewEng letters' keys according to common spelling sequences of English.
- I have set the diacritic keys on
,]and#(US\) for ease of typing, but this needs testing and feedback. Let me know how it goes for you!
MacOS & Linux support
- I do not have these operating systems currently so if you would like a layout for your system, you are welcome to copy this layout for yourself, or you can request for me to make one and I'll look into doing it.

- Voiced consonants on

- Diphthong (and a few monophthong) vowels on
Shiftlayer - IPA symbols around the edges, mostly on the right side (
ː ˈ ˌ ̆ ͜ ⟨ ⟩)

NewEng Layout v6.6 - NumRow (for Windows)
a907a19 Latest version of keyboard layout for NewEng (New English) alphabet, based on the standard QWERTY layout.
Changes since v6.4
- All letters with digraphs are output in their decomposed forms, as two glyphs: š is s + ̌ , rather than š.
- This is because not all marked glyphs are available as unicode glyphs. Typing a precomposed glyph means that deleting it requires one press of Backspace, while deleting a decomposed glyph requires two presses of Backspace. This is inconsistent for the end-user, and breaks the flow of typing unacceptably.
Lowercase layer (no modifier keys) & Uppercase layer ( Shift )
- ȝt is common in spellings, but awkward to type [
6 t].5tis easier to type- 6 is awkward for either hand to reach — ʞ is rarely used, so put it here.
- Swap ʞ and ȝ positions: ȝ is on 5 ; ʞ is on 6 .
Third layer ( AltGr ) & Fourth layer ( AltGr + Shift )
- ė is very common — add to
AltGr + e( and keep it onAltGr + i) - â is very common — add to
AltGr + r - ŭ is common but keys are far apart [
u \] — add it toAltGr + u - ă is common — add to
AltGr + q - ô is common — add to
AltGr + o - ◌̀ is more common than expected — add to
AltGr + p- this may change with NewEng orthographic updates.
AltGr + /was giving me RSI; added it toAltGr + p(at least for now).
- ◌̈ is more common than expected — add to
AltGr + Shift + p - è is specifically common now, for S/Z/T/D/N word endings: put è on
AltGr + e. - œ moved from e to y (pronunciation matches IPA vowel symbol)
Information
- The new NewEng letters are on the number row.
- Symbols are accessible on third layer via
Alt Gr - Numbers on
Alt Gr + Shift. - (You will find it easier to type numbers on a keyboard with a numpad.)
- Symbols are accessible on third layer via
- Some new letters are in other places.

[ ] # { } ~.

English IPA Layout v13 (for Windows)
05810ac Latest version of keyboard layout for typing IPA, based on the standard UK QWERTY layout.
Our first release is version 13.
Keyboard layout images
Layer 1 (no modifier keys) and Layer 2 (Shift) are unmodified.
Layer 3 [ Alt Gr ] & Layer 4 [ Alt Gr + Shift ]
Alt Gr keys are in blue, Alt Gr + Shift keys are in green.
Dead keys are circled in red. (Dead keys are so called because they don't output anything when pressed; rather, they modify the output of the next key pressed, based on pre-defined combinations. I haven't included tables of these combinations but I will do in the future.)

Information
- Primary vowel symbols are based on CUBE's analysis of modern British English, instead of the outdated (and even erroneous at its origin) standardised IPA rendition.
- Standard IPA vowel symbols are also available with
Alt Gr + Shift. - Also includes a variety of other useful symbols.
Known bugs
- A few of the diacritic keys don't work. I'm sure these used to work, and I don't know when they stopped working. I'm not currently able to test it properly so maybe they actually do work and I just have a problem on this specific computer.
