Labels and description

Instructions for CKG style guide (how to use them).

Rule of thumb: The combination of Label, Description, and Aliases are to provide understanding of what the data object is. Keep label as a short title or name of item. Descriptions are for context. Preferably reusing a source title/name and information for the the fields - this makes job easier and keeps information cleaner.

NB: Check related schemas and assemble a sample set of comparisons fo implementation for Wikidata.

Label - A label should be a concise name for an item.

If it needs to be longer than a few words, it is recommended to use the description field to provide additional context rather than extending the label itself.

Description

  • Provides context.
  • Alias: And codes needed for cataloguing or identifying items can go in Alias.

Use case: Report and report chapters

  • Wiki: Project Books schema used as guidance
  • Label 5 words or so
  • Labels use publishers DOI report or chapter title as retreived by API, unless the titles are not satisfactorily fomatted. Reports use responsible party + title of report, and Chapters - title of chapter. Issue #181
  • Description is: Report - title of report ; Chapters (Sections) responsible party + title of report
