Start contributing

Make sure you read SETUP.md and CONTRIBUTING.md when you start working on this project. Basically: Fork this repository and contribute back using pull requests to the master branch. Easy starting points are also reviewing pull requests and working on starter issue.

Track forked or be forked repo

After forked the repo to your account or be forked by other account, clone your repo to local, then from local master branch, do following one time:

git remote add nextcloud https://github.com/nextcloud/android.git
git remote add beforked https://github.com/beforked/android.git

Update from forked repo

Each time if you want to update from forked repo, on local master branch:

git fetch nextcloud
git checkout master
git rebase nextcloud/master

First fetch all the branches of that remote into remote-tracking branches. The goal of the checkout is to make sure you are on local master branch. The goal of the rebase is to have a cleaner history if you have local changes or commits on the repo.

Merge from be forked repo

Each time if you want to merge from be forked repo, under local master branch:

git fetch beforked
git merge beforked/master
