This newer version of Gatekeeper (1) upgrades Gatekeeper's custom DPDK to version 23.11; (2) brings a new data structure for the flow table, the most important data structure in Gatekeeper; (3) replaces DPDK's deprecated KNI library with Virtio-user; among other improvements. See the descriptions of the release candidates 1 and 2 for more information.

IMPORTANT: The target operating system (OS) for this version is Ubuntu 24.04 LTS. Our community only develops, tests, and deploys Gatekeeper on the target OS. Thus, if you deploy Gatekeeper on another OS, not only will you not fully leverage the effort of our community, but you may need to address your issues on your own.

This version improves over v1.2.0 RC2 by:

1. Updating the Debian package (see pull request #709);
2. Forcing inline BPF functions to always be inline (see pull request #712 and issue #711);
3. Solving an IPv6 interoperability issue with the i40e driver (see pull request #716);
4. Improving README.md (see pull request #721 and issue #719).
