Using ArcGIS 10.2 Basic, the functions to export and import XML workspace documents (gdb schema) are greyed out. I have seen the previous discussions here, but the suggestions didn't help. It shouldn't depend on the ArcGIS version or license level, right?

The Licensing Information for Import XML Workspace says:
- ArcGIS Desktop Basic: No
- ArcGIS Desktop Standard: Yes
- ArcGIS Desktop Advanced: Yes
so it looks like you need Standard or Advanced to unlock that functionality.

Thanks, PolyGeo. I understand that this applies to the tool. Though, in the chapters for exporting and importing 'manually', the help is silent on version requirements. The procedure is well explained, but no mentioning of any limitations when using ArcGIS Desktop Basic.DanielSE– DanielSE2017年08月15日 07:20:51 +00:00Commented Aug 15, 2017 at 7:20

Whenever documentation is mentioned I think it is helpful to provide a link to it, and likewise for any "discussions" (actually Q&As) like you mentioned in your question. Potential answerers can spend more time answering your question if they do not need to repeat your research first.2017年08月15日 07:46:12 +00:00Commented Aug 15, 2017 at 7:46

Please use the edit button beneath your question to revise it with any requested clarifications but I think it very unlikely that the tool licensing will not also apply to the ArcMap GUI.2017年08月15日 08:20:37 +00:00Commented Aug 15, 2017 at 8:20
