There appears to be two problems. The path issue(which seems to be
fairly
well understood by João Garcia), and the relocation error.
Here are some tests:
w/"as" 20030409 in path
- 20030522. Relocation error
- 20030517. OK
without "as" in path
- 20030517 "as" not found
- 20030414 "as" not found
- 20030409 OK
Here is a "translation table" from Mohan build dates to as versions:
20030522 GNU assembler version 2.13.90 (mingw32) using BFD version
2.13.90 20030111
20030409 GNU assembler version 2.13.90 (mingw32) using BFD version
2.13.90 20021005

I vote against this.
The great thing about your builds is that it comes "shrink wrapped",
i.e.
it is put together by someone who knows which pieces that goes together.
Or rather the it is a collabarative effort of the the people in this
mailing
list, organized by Mohan.
What hope do I have to figure out what binutils to use, if you don't
know :-)
