Is this with the mainline or the 3.1 branch? For mingw it might be best 
to concentrate on the 3.1 branch for now - mainline is likely to be 
unstable for a while as the various branches land. The branch gives you 
a fairly stable base to work on without having more transient problems 
appearing under you.
