Newbie instructions for building gcj for Windows

Hi,
I'm a complete newcomer to gcj (and gcc), and have been trying to build gcj 
for Windows for the past week with no success (tried Cygwin + snapshots, 
last release etc).
To save me giving up on the idea of using gcj (java - native code seems a 
great idea to me), could anyone point me towards up to date instructions on 
how to get gcj to build (and which release/snapshot actually works on 
Windows!).
