I'm not sure what you mean by using the 1.2 runtimes with gcj. gcj is
a standalone system. It doesn't need a VM, nor does it use one (yet).
Our initial work is targetting JDK 1.1.
I'm not positive, but I think the reason we're using 1.1 and not 1.2
is that 1.2 isn't final.
