Happy to sell a couple for what I paid if anyone wants one... Another delivery today, become clear most my current builds and overclocking will be socket 370 / socket A so won a couple of these Thermaltake orbs the other night. Im planning another build using a modified AIO and 2 stage modern peltier though as its slim pickings for these types of coolers now...

picked up this lovely 286 motherboard with AMD 286 16Mhz chip, super clean, compact, love it ! Came from Greece.

I put 4MB of RAM in it, huge ! lol ... and installed DOS along with a Yamaha ISA card with a eWave for general midi, XT-IDE card with 4GB space. it flies ! Im superised how snappy it is... Video card is basic 1MB Trident and feel little sluggish, not sure if playing with various Shadow cache options in BIOS would help, its not bad at all but little noticeable. I might also test another gpu, ideally I want aTseng ET4000 in it, whilst overkill, this will be a special build in my collection. Next I am going to find a right case for it, I have a nice small clean tower but they were not common at all during 286 era so looking for a desktop option.

Im still also thinking about using different sound card, the Yamaha is nice but has a bit of noise which I dont like. I might use PicoGUS with the wavetable card but we'll see.

Todays impulse buy... took a gamble on this one... 400ドル and apparently keeps cycling inputs but also possible the seller wasn’t testing it properly.

Almost immaculate condition for a change

Confirmed it doesn’t work, just cycles the inputs. No display image but has HV / static. Apparently its likely to be an IC CXA2043Q which I will hunt down before anything rlse

Na seems to function ok, no OSD / image though and just cycles between BNC and VGA inputs over an over. Google digging seems to come up with a common IC failure CXA2043Q which ill look into

Crazy how often a sub 5ドル component kills things.

Yeah they aint cheap, hunting a reputable source to order some at (never used that mob before). Quite unusual for Sony though, their old gear is generally bomb proof
