2. According to Don Olivier <[email protected]> , his system manager came in to work one morning to find his IBM system down with a message on the console that said "AMD failure". After he and the service rep had puzzled over documentation for an hour or so they called headquarters and eventually learned that it the failure was in the cooling system: an AMD is an "air movement device", IBM for "fan".
