Hans (@eighthave) traveled to EuroCommons, paid for by your donations. EuroCommons is a series of events organized by the French government’s Caisse des Dépôts" investment bank. Many companies, government employees, and FOSS projects where there. The central goal is helping accelerate large organizations to migrate to FOSS solutions as fast as possible to support Digital Sovereignty.

@23rd:

Scrib is a small new app for on-device voice transcription: it turns audio into text entirely on the phone using open Whisper models (whisper.cpp), and only goes online to download a model.

Besides working on its own, Scrib can act as an offline transcription engine for other apps through a small, vendor-neutral AIDL contract (org.opentranscribe.api) — the same idea Offline Translator brought to translation, now for speech-to-text. An app discovers whichever compatible transcriber the user has installed and gets streaming text back, so it never bundles its own model.

Vishal takes pictures:

Immich got a major upgrade with breaking changes, most of which were previously deprecated. Other changes include new mobile photo editing, timeline changes, API cleanup, faster library browsing, improved video playback, workflows and a new "Recently Added" view. Please take a look at the blog post for more details.

Immich Uploader was also updated to 3.0.0 for API of Immich 3.x.

Shuvashish (@shuvashish76):

Fauxx - Privacy Through Deception now supports AppImages. It’s a good time for Linux/BSD users to have to try.

@Licaon_Kter converses:

The registrations for Quicksy are permanently closed, as noted by its developer @daniel. The reason - "fighting industrial-scale SMS pumping fraud has become unsustainable". Though Daniel is "committed to keeping the quicksy.im XMPP server running for at least 24 months", Quicksy users are advised to eventually migrate to Conversations by backing up the account in Quicksy and importing it into Conversations (write down the Quicksy password beforehand).

The Kords developer lost their signing key. It is now published with a new appid. The old one has been archived. Please check Kords .

@linsui:

Hans (@eighthave) came upon an interesting interview with Sidephone founders on the Vivaldi podcast. They use F-Droid as a white label app for their app store and F-Droid tooling to distribute extra apps that their users might need. Check out their cool app collection on their website. If you scan any of the QR codes there with your F-Droid client, you’ll see what I mean :). Listen to what they had to say on the Vivaldi podcast
