[edit ]From Proto-Indo-European *tḱey- ("to settle"). Cognates include Sanskrit क्षेति॑ (kṣéti), Avestan 𐬱𐬀𐬉𐬌𐬙𐬌 (šaēiti) and, via Iranian borrowing, Old Armenian շէն (šēn).[1]
