All comments page not working?

I tried purging to no avail Wikipedia talk:Wikipedia Signpost/Single/2026-06-21 which is supposed to transclude the comments from all individual articles, where it does work for previous issue Wikipedia talk:Wikipedia Signpost/Single/2026-05-22 ~ In solidarity 🦝 Shushugah (talk) 11:15, 21 June 2026 (UTC) Reply

Ah Module:Signpost/index/2026 is not updated yet with the June 21 2026 publication ~ In solidarity 🦝 Shushugah (talk) 11:26, 21 June 2026 (UTC) Reply
This happens almost every time a new issue is published. I think it needs to get on the publication checklist, but I don't know where that lives. I'd be happy to update something when I see this problem, but it is not clear if it is easy or even possible for me to do it myself. – Jonesey95 (talk) 16:59, 21 June 2026 (UTC) Reply
A broken gallery tag was also breaking the single-issue page. Inspecting that page for oddities (e.g. missing -end templates sometimes cause weird indenting) also needs to go on the publication checklist. – Jonesey95 (talk) 17:03, 21 June 2026 (UTC) Reply

The page at Wikipedia talk:Wikipedia Signpost/Single/2026-06-21 is still not populated. It should contain pages like Wikipedia talk:Wikipedia Signpost/2026-06-21/From the editors. – Jonesey95 (talk) 01:59, 5 July 2026 (UTC) Reply

Commenting on mobile needs a fix

[edit ]
Latest comment: 16 days ago 2 comments2 people in discussion

Because of how the comments are wrapped on signpost talk pages... commenting on mobile requires you to edit in source mode. Further, you can't actually see anything on talk pages unless you click the "learn more about this page" icon. I don't claim to have a technical solution, but it can't be that hard to figure out how to just display comments regular style so you can, for instance, use discussion reply links. On regular Talk pages on mobile web, that "Learn more about this page" hides so much: project tags, previous Prod or AFD info, archive links. Editing that info also works poorly (raised as T394572). As you say, mobile Reply is non-functional for Signpost Talk pages; possibly worth raising on Phabricator, but maybe some form of interference with the Signpost-article-comments-end template. Hello. I would love to read the Signpost every time it's published, but I have an aversion to long messages on my Talk page, especially when they duplicate content elsewhere. Any chance you could create a highly abbreviated version, either with just a link and the date, or may be a one-sentence invitation with the top three links as a teaser? I would sign up for a message that was just this:

The Signpost of 13 July 2026 (Single page) is here! Read about: Larry Sanger ban; Wikicurious; LLMs and NPOV, and more. /sig/

Or, if it's easier, just the first part, with no teaser. I'd really love to get the reminder each time, as I forget to look otherwise, and end up constantly missing them, unless I bump into the message on someone else's UTP. Any chance? Mathglot (talk) 18:22, 20 July 2026 (UTC) Reply

Add yourself here and you'll have a talk page reminder/delivery https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Wikipedia_Signpost/Subscribe#Add_pages Headbomb {t · c · p · b} 18:27, 20 July 2026 (UTC) Reply
Thanks! I'll try {{Signpost-subscription-inline }} on my UTP first and see if I notice that as it updates. Much appreciated. Mathglot (talk) 18:35, 20 July 2026 (UTC) Reply
Another option is to put Wikipedia:Wikipedia Signpost on your watchlist. Works for me, anyway. – Jonesey95 (talk) 00:27, 22 July 2026 (UTC) Reply

Interactive quiz

Is it possible to have an interactive, multiple-choice quiz in The Signpost? I have an idea for a piece, with the potential to turn it into a series. WhatamIdoing (talk) 19:35, 27 July 2026 (UTC) Reply

it should be possible using {{calculator }} Bawolff (talk) 22:21, 27 July 2026 (UTC) Reply

shortcode

I retargeted WP:TSP here on the theory that people nowadays don't often need to refer with brevity to a WikiProject disbanded in 2008 (a 'webcob', perhaps), and also because 'The Sign Post' is how I tend to think of this publication when away from positive evidence of the proper orthography. I see that it is the 'Wikipedia Signpost' like if Wikipedia was a city and this was the town paper, along the lines of the Metropolis Daily Planet. Anyway, I guess the main page shouldn't use the {{shortcut }} template since it would mess with the tidy presentation. — Arlo James Barnes 01:33, 1 August 2026 (UTC) Reply

I have reverted this edit as, while it is true that people nowadays would not need to refer to this project, people in the past did, and the redirect has 61 existing pages which link to it. It is best to avoid messing with existing links unless it is absolutely necessary, and I think that most people will continue to recognise and use WP:POST when discussing The Signpost.
