The result was no consensus, the sources given are trivial mentions though, if that isn't fixed, the article can be renominated for deletion. Thanks. Jaranda wat's sup Sports! 02:41, 13 September 2007 (UTC) [reply ]

[edit ](削除) Doesn't meet requirements at WP:BIO. (削除ここまで) Shell babelfish 00:06, 7 September 2007 (UTC) [reply ]
- Delete Per nom, doesn't achieve WP:BIO. Has only played around Ireland. -Lemonflash (do something) 00:20, 7 September 2007 (UTC) [reply ]
- Delete non-notable amateur athlete. As an aside, I note that a SPA created the article - likely COI. Bigdaddy1981 01:10, 7 September 2007 (UTC) [reply ]
- DeleteApparently nonnotable, given his extreme provinciality and minor status. — Rickyrab | Talk 01:51, 7 September 2007 (UTC) [reply ]
- Delete - NN. (Though that shot of him morose with the piece of steak is classic!) ;) Spawn Man 05:11, 7 September 2007 (UTC) [reply ]
- Delete WP:BIO is clear for sports people - to be at the top of their sport at a national level or notable regional level. This is not the case. However per Spawn Man the inevitable loss of the picture accompanying the article will be sad. I think it's a sausage he's eating but it doesn't look too appetising....! - Comment Lemonflash's remark that Nestor has "only played around Ireland" is irrelevant, unless we change the guidelines to apply difft criteria national sportspeople in difft countries; there are hundreds, if not thousands, of articles on American sportspeople who are unknown outside America.
WP:SPORT is somewhat Amero-centric, with many America-only specific guidelines, and in particular no guidance on amateur athletes other than the amero-centric college athletes, which includes college athletes who have won football, baseball or basketabll awards. Nestor has won regional regional awards for gaelic football (Mayo Sports Star of the Year 1995), which is marginal wrt to notability, and the coverage of his career doesn't quite meet WP:BIO, so I'm not going to argue for a "keep" unless someone finds more substantive coverage of him ... but he has played for the Mayo county team, which is pretty near the top of the game. --BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 11:59, 7 September 2007 (UTC) [reply ]- With that information and the fact that the Mayo award is sourced to what looks like a reputable publication, I'd have also lean towards keep. It looks like his games with Mayo received some coverage in a number of other newspapers as well [1], [2], [3], [4] and while they articles aren't more than nominally about him, he gets several mentions in each, which is typical for notable sports figures. Not sure if this is the same guy, but it looks like he may have gone on to play for Ballinrobe [5]. Shell babelfish 15:04, 7 September 2007 (UTC) [reply ]
- Keep. Given Shell's links and those below from Flowerpot, I think that notability is established, since he clearly has played at the top level of his sport. --BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 08:10, 8 September 2007 (UTC) [reply ]
- Delete. Per above.. - Kittybrewster (talk) 15:55, 7 September 2007 (UTC) [reply ]
- Strong keep - This is an athlete who's (apparently - I know sod all about the GAA so I may be misinterpreting their league structure) played at the highest level. Do we really need to have an Irish re-run of the "I live in America so I've never heard of this Pakistani cricketer" wave of AfDs last year? — iridescent (talk to me!) 16:15, 7 September 2007 (UTC) [reply ]
- Keep - He has played Gaelic football at County level, which appears to be pretty much the top of the tree for Gaelic sport.Nigel Ish 17:54, 7 September 2007 (UTC) [reply ]
- Keep per above. Playing inter-county Gaelic football (at senior level) is the pretty much the top of the tree in the sport and he played at that level for Mayo. (And here's a couple of links from the BBC andRTÉ FlowerpotmaN·(t) 22:08, 7 September 2007 (UTC) [reply ]
- Comment I did some work cleaning up this article a few weeks ago. I had some concerns about the subject's notability, so I'm pleased to see some other views. Just a note: I requested semi-protection because of ongoing, low-volume, mostly harmless vandalism, by one or more IP/new editors. If the article is kept, the vandalism is likely to start up again when the semi-protection is lifted. --Kateshort forbob 14:30, 10 September 2007 (UTC) [reply ]
