Candy making

[edit ]

The term for candy making is confectionary the synonym for candy maker is cofectioner. Please do not revert but instead join the discussion Sharnadd (talk) 08:04, 17 January 2025 (UTC) [reply ]

I went back to look at this page for the first time in many years and saw you had removed a blockquote on the basis that the quote was not to be found in the article referenced. I was briefly outraged, because I knew it was in the article. But of course it wasn't: I had linked to the wrong part of a two-part article. Fixed now: have re-inserted, but now with the correct ref. Thanks for spotting it. Brammarb (talk) 17:11, 22 January 2025 (UTC) [reply ]

Regarding the edits reversed

[edit ]

Hello there may I know why some of the edits got reversed despite sourcing I would like a reasoning. 98.5.242.201 (talk) 03:03, 1 February 2025 (UTC) [reply ]

I'll reply on your talk page. Sjö (talk) 07:45, 1 February 2025 (UTC) [reply ]

Fixing of your reversion

[edit ]

You removed my reference for fried chicken though the link you provided actually showed you an earlier expression for fried chicken with a fried chicken recipe. You then reverted my removal of the American expression as the citation provided didnt give any information about where the expression originated. Can you please improve the citation or remove Sharnadd (talk) 08:50, 2 February 2025 (UTC) [reply ]

No, but I removed "American English" as unsourced and dubious. Please read the references together with the text they are supposed to support. You will find that the references I fixed today support the text, but the Huswifes Jewell reference did not support the text you added, which said that the dish was called "frie chicken". Sjö (talk) 08:57, 2 February 2025 (UTC) [reply ]
It was defence 5 that you returned that id dubious still as it gives no information as to where the word was referenced at the time . The text I added did not state that the dishes was called fried chicken. I said that the expression frie chicken was used in 16th century it was below it is a recipe in which they frying chicken. There is nothing to show that the American fried chicken was recorded in the 1830s or that it related to Southern fried chicken Sharnadd (talk) 09:20, 2 February 2025 (UTC) [reply ]
Please read your comments before posting, and also read the edits that you refer to, in order to prevent mistakes. I have no idea what you mean by "defence 5".
And you misrepresent the text I removed. The text said that the phrase "fried chicken" evolved from the 16th century British "Frie chicken".[1] Before that you said that "fried chicken" was called "frie chicken" in 16th century England [2]. There is nothing in the reference that supports either of those statements. Again, please read the references together with the text they are supposed to support. Sjö (talk) 09:35, 2 February 2025 (UTC) [reply ]
Oh dear. I meant reference 5. I removed it a it did not show that the expression was around in the 1830s and you returned it. Yes I did supply the recipe that shows frie chicken in the 16th century. Ah you want a source to show how 16th century people referred to the names of a dish. Please read reference 5 as it does not support that the expression was used in the 1830s Sharnadd (talk) 09:50, 2 February 2025 (UTC) [reply ]

Hi didn't realise that I had added a dead red link and a category link. You removed the category link. I have fixed it now returned the category link and remind the red dead link Sharnadd (talk) 12:44, 9 February 2025 (UTC) [reply ]

Rollback Misuse

[edit ]

Hello, I noticed you reverted a good faith edit on the page David Coke without leaving a talk page note. The edit does not fit any of the situations mentioned at WP:ROLLBACKUSE. — Cosmic6811 T/C 21:04, 12 February 2025 (UTC) [reply ]

I'm not as sure as you are that it was an edit in good faith. After all, adding Enter twice in the middle of a word is not an easy mistake to make. But I'll give it the benefit of the doubt and restore it to its probably intended meaning. Sjö (talk) 06:05, 13 February 2025 (UTC) [reply ]
