- 2804:38A:A166:7CCA:0:0:4EA3:4A01 (talk · contribs · (/64) · deletedcontribs · filterlog · WHOIS · RBLs · http · blockuser · blocklog) Hi Serge! Came across this anonymous genre warrior who performed unsourced genre edits on all the Love and Arthur Lee pages. Almost certainly the same person as User:PsychedelicRockMusic.—The Keymaster (talk) 20:26, 28 October 2025 (UTC) Reply
- Hi again, Keymaster. Absolutely agree it's problematic genre warring, but unless it's a sock of someone who's been indeffed for it, it's generally better to try to give some guidance and/or warnings before turning to blocks/protection. Sone people don't know it's problematic. If they keep it up after being informed/warned some, that's another story. Make sense? Sergecross73 msg me 02:48, 29 October 2025 (UTC) Reply
- Yeah, that makes sense. I have a feeling this person isn't even going to bother trying again, unless it's under yet another alias or IP. I'll keep an eye on them. The Keymaster (talk) 11:44, 1 November 2025 (UTC) Reply

- Hi. I came across 209.93.85.118 (talk · contribs · deletedcontribs · filterlog · WHOIS · RDNS · RBLs · http · blockuser · blocklog) not too long ago when I saw them disrupt the Vic Mignogna article and has been causing problems elsewhere such as Azumanga Daioh. Can you please take a look into this and see what needs to be done? Thanks, sjones23 (talk - contributions) 14:12, 31 October 2025 (UTC) Reply
- It looks like they've been warned a bunch, and next step will probably be close to blocking time. I'm not personally very familiar with the subjects they're editing though, so it'll either have to be blatant vandalism or I may need more context to act. - ~2025-42120-34 (talk ·contribs ) Hi. This person is on a one-track mission to de-orphan articles, all using zero sources. So very few are correct, and most are "Notable people" lists so they violate WP:RS. After two days of warnings ignored, I would hope that a short block would direct the attention to the Talk page. I think they've been dodging most AIV reports by going to a new TA before warnings get to level 4, and there's a lot of DE going on here (and some copyvio that'd been sitting around for a while). This diff in particular also raises some eyebrows for me. ScalarFactor (talk) 02:59, 9 February 2026 (UTC) Reply
- Yeah, that's a tough one. I definitely don't like...any of what they're doing, really. But I could see how AIV reports wouldn't be working since they're not being belligerent about any one thing. One of us could give them some sort of blanket final warning, and see if anything changes after that? Its hard to jump to anything right now without the repeated warnings about things... Turns on every couple years to do promotional editing on Minnesota Republicans, particularly Eric Pratt. Seems like an open and shut COI case to me. - I agree it appears to be a bit of a COI/promotional issue, but their edits are so few and far between, it would probably be sufficent to just start with a standard COI template warning/notification. Sergecross73 msg me 17:59, 26 June 2026 (UTC) Reply
- ~2026-20142-79 (talk · contribs · deletedcontribs · nukecontribs · logs · filterlog · blockuser · blocklog) Coupled with this TA's edits and their general hostility (on their talk page), I'm willing to argue WP:NOTHERE applies. I think reporting at AIV is a dead end because their edits are not strictly vandalism, but they are clearly not willing to be civil, are arguing WP:IMRIGHT, so I do genuinely believe they are WP:NOTHERE. - They were definitely being difficult and rude, but I don't know if it was enough to take action, they did appear to be make a good-faith argument of sorts, even if it was tainted by their attitude. Looks like they've stopped at least, unless their IP hopping now. Sergecross73 msg me 14:00, 24 July 2026 (UTC) Reply

- Done. Its hard to see a goodfaith argument here. Sergecross73 msg me 14:00, 24 July 2026 (UTC) Reply
When talking about things in different countries, especially when trying to avoid US-defaultism, can you explain how not clarifying those countries is "an improvement" in your words? Thanks. Andrewpandy401 (talk) 19:06, 16 July 2026 (UTC) Reply
- As I mentioned in my edit summary, it just felt like you repeatedly added regions or regional names in places where it was already clear what was being discussed. Other edits just added more words for no effect at all. Sergecross73 msg me 00:56, 17 July 2026 (UTC) Reply
- There are many, many instances in the article where it isn<nowiki>'t clear. When the article is talking about regional variations, generally regions are mentioned except North America.
- Are you saying if the region isn't mentioned, it's "clear" - as you say - that it's North America? That would suggest North America is the default; going against WP:NPOVFAQ and avoiding an Anglo-American focus. If I’ve misunderstood, can you explain how not mentioning the region when talking about North America in the context of other international regions is - in your words - "clear"? - I'm saying that the article is a Featured Article, the highest quality ranking Wikipedia has for articles. It was extensively written and passed a rigorous review process. It doesn't mean it's perfect, but it does make it extremely difficult for me to believe there were like 20 instances where basic subjects were poorly defined, as your edits suggested. - "extremely difficult for me to believe there were like 20 instances where basic subjects were poorly defined"
- "After the release of the Genesis in 1989, video game publisher Accolade..." Since the article generally refers to the console as 'Genesis' even when referring outside of North America ("30.75 million first-party Genesis units were sold worldwide"), it's unclear whether '1989' is a typo or referring specifically to the North American release.
- "[In Japan,] Sega held a company-wide contest to create a mascot character..." The article mentions Sega of America on numerous occasions, but here you chose to remove the note that the contest was only in Japan?
- "As of 2012, Tectoy had sold an estimated 3 million Genesis units" Where? Brazil.
- "In November 1993, Sega released the Sega Activator" Where? Only in the US.
- "In 1994, Sega started the Sega Channel" Where? Only in the US.
- "At the Winter Consumer Electronic Show in January 1994, Sega of America research and development head Joe Miller took a phone call from Nakayama... One idea came from a concept from Sega Enterprises [in Japan]" Again, why mention Sega of America specifically, but remove the reference to Japan?
- "The Saturn was released on May 11, 1995," Where? Only in North America.
- "[In late 1995] Late in the 16-bit era, Sega released a handheld version of the Genesis" How is specifying the year less clear than an "era"?
- "The system was later redesigned by JVC and released as the X'Eye in North America in September 1994. Designed by JVC to be a Genesis and Sega CD combination with high quality audio, the Wondermega's high price (500ドル at launch)" This sentence is talking about the X'Eye, not the Wondermega. Even the source refers to it as the X'Eye.
- "After the Genesis was discontinued, Majesco released the Genesis 3" Where? Only in the US.

- It is not useful to assume North America is the default, especially when talking about international markets. Andrewpandy401 (talk) 12:57, 17 July 2026 (UTC) Reply
- To be clear, not a single one of my responses have at any point referenced the US or NA in any capacity. Only you have been talking about that. That's not my issue. My issue is that in many of your changes, you seemed to write as if each sentence were written with no prior knowledge of any of the prior sentences. Like inserting "Mega Drive" or "Genesis" in for pronouns like "it". There's no reason to keep name dropping it when it's still clear what the subject is. You also frequently added less concise phrasing to no benefit. (Changing the concise "None were successful" to the clumsily phrased "None achieved major commercial success" were among the changes I considered "not an improvement" or "more words with no benefit".)
- I didn't necessarily object to every single change. But there were enough that a blanked revert was far more efficient. Thus why you'll see most experienced editors recommend not making a ton of changes across one single edit. Spread them across multiple edits so all your changes don't get undone at once when editors just object to some if your changes. Sergecross73 msg me 15:35, 17 July 2026 (UTC) Reply

Hi Sergecross, I wanted to pick your brain on this before going to ANI or another forum.
User:Superlogan7437 came across my radar for an edit marked as minor to Toby Fox's page, but that added new wording. I investigated and found that pretty much all of their recent edits followed this pattern, substantive edits to pages marked as minor.
I went onto their talk page to just give them a heads up, and while I was there I noticed another user had done the same a few weeks prior, and Superlogan blanked it out. It's my understanding that deleting other's messages on talk pages, even your own, that aren't vandalism or personal attacks, is uncivil.
I made one last reply on their talk page explaining this, and then blanked it and also added Template:User mental health. See
I'm curious what your take is here. If they had just blanked it, I would take this to ANI for uncivil editing, but the mental health message makes me reconsider it. Should we cut them some slack and continue to monitor edits, or start up a thread over there?
Thanks. Yojo98 (talk) 14:30, 17 July 2026 (UTC) Reply
- So, generally speaking, either them engaging us discussion, or archiving their talk page is preferred, users are allowed to delete comments from their own talk page. As you can see at WP:USERTALK, editors do have more flexibility when it comes to their own talk page. So I wouldn't report them for civility issues alone.
- That said, deleting comments off of ones talk page does count as acknowledgement that the message was at least received. (Conceptually, one has to see it to delete it.) They can no longer say that "they didn't know any better" or something like that. This helps as far as escalation goes.
- Because they have, at least on a round about way, indicated they're struggling with mental issues if sorts right now, I wouldn't do anything else. But if they do this in any further edits, let me know, and I'll intervene. I'd probably start with a talk/warning. I don't love blocking editors for minor stuff like this, but there's also really no excuse for not making a simple change like this either... Sergecross73 msg me 15:16, 17 July 2026 (UTC) Reply
- Ah apologies, I had misread that portion of the talk page guidelines. I really appreciate your thoughtful reply here, and it does make sense that deletion here is at least some acknowledgement that they read it.
- Sounds like a good plan. Makes sense that it isn't the first choice to block over something like this. I'll keep an eye on it and let you know if anything changes.

Official Petition for Paralyzing Bureaucratic Mercy To: The High Council of the Wiki-Overlords From: The Former Rogue Operative Known Only as "PawPatroler" Subject: Request to Cease My Digital Exile Esteemed Wardens of the Free Encyclopedia, I am writing to formally acknowledge that my recent editorial behavior was less "scholarly contribution" and more "digital bulldozer." It turns out that wandering into complex articles I do not understand behaves exactly like a toddler playing with a active nuclear reactor. Lessons have been deeply, painfully learned. Moving forward, I swear a solemn oath to stick to topics that reside strictly within my actual intellectual zip code. If I ever find myself confused by a page again, I will politely ask for adult supervision instead of mashing my keyboard. I crave the chance to make deeply thought-out, staggeringly useful contributions to your glorious database. Therefore, I propose a compromise to test my rehabilitation: Please grant me a single, solitary sandbox. Think of it as my personal digital playground with padded walls. If you unblock just my sandbox, I can happily make mistakes in isolation, learning the ways of the Wiki-Force without accidentally breaking the internet or giving your administrators ulcers. Can we please unlock the sandbox gate? @PawPatroler ~2026-40587-53 (talk) 18:13, 20 July 2026 (UTC) Reply

Hi Serge. So last month it appears HumanxAnthro removed the anti-"music side of Wikipedia" screed on their user page and for the past couple of weeks has dove headfirst into returning to the topic areas they complained about several months ago. Straight back into making previously contentious edits like placing the importance of a UK chart that combines sales and airplay over the actual official UK chart source, which was an issue they ran into several months ago. It appears they're now going to other editors and telling them one-on-one the way they think it should be: User_talk:MarioSoulTruthFan#UK_Singles_Chart. They also had complaints about separating chart tables into sales versus airplay ones months ago. Now they're doing this again, just in prose this time, like at Around the World (Aqua song) here and inserting strange asides into prose like at Mine (Taylor Swift song) here. (HumanxAnthro seems to strongly believe charts that combine sales and airplay are vastly superior to ones that don't and makes it a point to preference them anywhere they can. Like referring to the official UK Singles Chart as "sales-only" everywhere. It's bizarre.) Also, I believe removing critic-list tables ran them afoul of several editors, but they are back to removing those again, saying they're "fucking sick" of them and calling them "fucking obnoxious".
Letting you know as I was forbidden from posting on their talk page and you warned them about this behaviour that was getting them into arguments several months ago. Skyversay (talk) 01:15, 28 July 2026 (UTC) Reply
