Capitalisation of positions
[edit ]Hi there. You have made several edits recently where you have added the term 'Assistant', such as 'Slade Assistants' and 'Assistant in Drawing'. I do not have access to your references. Could you double check to reassure yourself that your use of capitalisation conforms with the guidelines set out in MOS:JOBTITLE? Many thanks. - Dear Masato
- Thank you for the message. It is much appreciated. Derwent Lees was formerly appointed as the Assistant in Drawing at the Slade however in some texts from the Slade Calendars the capitalisation of the position varies. Thank you for pointing out my irregularities - I shall review them all and amend records accordingly. Thank you and my apologies
- warm regards

- Dear Masato
- I have replied after having having received the first note from you - via my email however it appeared to go to a general wiki email so Im unsure whether you’ve got it. Anyway as requested I have reviewed the relevant entries re the capitalisation of his formal Assistant title and amended a couple of entries that could be lower case. I hope they meet your regulations. Thank you
- Warm regards

- Hi there. I saw your reply. What happened (and frequently does) is that I left a message here on your talk page, and WP seems to automatically add it to my watchlist, so I am alerted whenever something changes here.
- They're not my regulations, I'm a humble editor like yourself, not an admin or some other similar lofty position. I've just had experience of being corrected by others for not following the guidelines, usually quite rightly, and it's dispiriting to find your work reverted or corrected. The more you edit, the more you learn! Masato.harada (talk) 14:48, 29 January 2025 (UTC) [reply ]

[edit ]Dear Entry Manager I am trying to learn about the regulations of wiki entries ad you have removed the hyperlink to my book - which describes and quotes a 1907 summer Slade painting trip of five students where Clause’s behaviour, alongside fellow student Ihlee, is pitted against Lees and called into question. I dont understand why the hyperlink to my forthcoming book describing this event is removed. Is it because I have not yet provided specific page numbers to the 1907 event or is it that I do not show enough detail about William Clause in the wiki entry ? Thank you for your assistance.
- You should not be editing Wikipedia to promote to a book you have written. Over the past weeks you have been shoe horning links to that book into articles where there is no justification to include it. These include articles on anyone who was at the Slade as the same time as Lees and seemingly any other Australian artist in London at the time, usually with phrases like 'may have known'. In fact as the book has not been published you shouldn't been including it as a reference at all as no-one could possibly check what you claim. You also need to make clear on this page, or your user page, that you that have a potential conflict of interest. Please respond here or my talk page and not by sending e-mails. Thank you.14GTR (talk) 13:24, 17 February 2025 (UTC) [reply ]
- My apologies if what I have been doing is incorrect. I understood that augmenting entries with new research findings was ok even if it was by way of a new publication where former knowledge was lacking or incorrect (as is the case in this instance). Clearly this does not meet with your regulatory process.
- My apologies and I shall reframe from further additions. Thank you for your clarification as its a grey area of what constitutes a research contribution. Odilefenn (talk) 13:58, 17 February 2025 (UTC) [reply ]
