Administrators, commonly known as admins or sysops (system operators), are Wikipedia editors who have been granted the technical ability to perform certain special actions on the English Wikipedia, including the ability to block and unblock user accounts and IP addresses from editing, edit fully protected pages, protect and unprotect pages from editing, delete and undelete pages, rename pages without restriction, and use certain other tools.
They are never required to use their tools, and must never use them to gain an advantage in a dispute in which they are involved.
Admins are selected by the Wikipedia community at Wikipedia:Requests for adminship through an often grueling review process. Go there if you would like to nominate someone to be an admin (including yourself).
(I have relocated these very precious kindnesses from others to the top of my talkpage, so they will never be lost or forgotten. I am very grateful for each one.)

Fruits
[edit ]Ovinus has given you a bowl of peaches! This delicious fruit promotes WikiLove and has hopefully made your day juicier. Spread peachiness and WikiLove by giving someone else some peaches, whether it be someone you have had disagreements with in the past or a good friend, by adding {{subst:Peach}} to their talk page with a friendly message!
Was thinking of you and your work earlier, Jen. Thanks for everything and I hope you have a good day! I certainly will be... today is a dim light at the end of this year-long tunnel. Warmly, Ovinus (talk) 13:38, 20 January 2021 (UTC) [reply ]

Referencing of Conversion to Christianity
[edit ]The content now reads as a proper Wikipedia article as well. -- LCU ActivelyDisinterested ∆transmissions∆ °co-ords° 10:50, 19 September 2023 (UTC) [reply ]
- ActivelyDisinterested Bless you! Thank you! I so deeply appreciate you and all your work. You are still the one I will reach out to when I have a problem, but you have taught me a lot, and this article was just too much to ask someone else to do for me. I would have enjoyed banging my head against a wall more, but hey, I followed your example and got it done. I put it up for peer review and others suggested adding back a theology section which I am beginning work on today. Thank you again. You are a great blessing. I find today's birthday child particularly inspiring, by enthusiasm and determination. That was - believe it or not - a pictured DYK in 2021, without the last line though. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 20:47, 9 February 2025 (UTC) [reply ]

- Today's story is about Edith Mathis, who portrayed young women by Mozart. The video of a 1993 interview has videos of her performances. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 14:56, 13 February 2025 (UTC) [reply ]
- I reverted sidebar Christianity from History, - revert if you disagree. I believe that the template grew too much to be useful, and is a distraction at the beginning of an article, - any article. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 17:26, 17 February 2025 (UTC) [reply ]
- On History of Christianity? I don't see it in the edit history Gerda, but if you reverted something I am sure it needed reverting. Jenhawk777 (talk) 18:33, 17 February 2025 (UTC) [reply ]
- I meant to revert the sidebar Christianity but didn't manage. - Should I? I think it's distracting at that point. - I point at a composer today, as the main page does. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 23:08, 20 February 2025 (UTC) [reply ]

History of Christianity
[edit ]I noticed some rather disparaging comments directed towards you on Talk:History of Christianity. That someone has taken such a sincere and learned approach to improving such a monumental article on a challenging subject deserves nothing but commendation. While I can't say when or if it'll ever be an FA class, that almost doesn't matter. The article—one read by many thousands annually—is in a much better place than before your contributions. ~ Pbritti (talk) 05:24, 12 February 2025 (UTC) [reply ]
- Hear hear. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 16:48, 12 February 2025 (UTC) [reply ]
- Pbritti and Gråbergs Gråa Sång thank you. I needed that. I am familiar with Borsoka's approach. If there are any mistakes by others, they must run away and hide their heads in shame, whereas when he makes a mistake, it isn't even worth acknowledging as such. It isn't an approach I respect, so I am not particularly effected by it. That doesn't lessen my gratitude toward both of you for this. Thank you again. [edit ]Hello I’m starting to write my own page. --Crvallejos (talk) 19:30, 14 February 2025 (UTC) [reply ]
- Hello back! What topic are you writing on? Yourself? Are you famous enough to have multiple secondary sources about you that you can reference? You are a primary source on yourself and therefore can't be used, you know that right? Jenhawk777 (talk) 19:35, 14 February 2025 (UTC) [reply ]

[edit ]Hi, I am trying to make a page on the JR East HB-E220 train, however the image available are on the JR East website meaning that I can't upload it to wikimedia, should I contact JR east for permission to use the image? Thank you! --AzureMenace (talk) 18:52, 19 February 2025 (UTC) [reply ]
- Yes, you must have permission or it's a copyright violation. They can publish it with a license for its public use. Jenhawk777 (talk) 18:55, 19 February 2025 (UTC) [reply ]
- I see thanks for answering AzureMenace (talk) 19:01, 19 February 2025 (UTC) [reply ]
- Happy to be of absolutely no help whatsoever... take a look at this and see if it actually does help any. [1] There are no doubt others on Wikimedia who know more than I do on this. "West over East"
[edit ]Jenhawk777, I apologize for having gone off on a tangent, but I'm a Southerner, and that's what we do.;-) To return to the question of "West over East", I should say that when I hear that phrase, I personally think in terms of Asia rather than the Eastern Church, in whatever iteration. I do believe that Christianity in the modern developing world gets short shrift in the article, but that may be an unavoidable consequence of the constraints of covering life, the universe, and everything in 10,000 words. Sorry, Africa, Asia, South America, and Polynesia.;-)
I just want to throw this out there before I get drunk (kidding, sort of): To figure out what proportion of the article should be devoted to the "East", it might be useful to make an outline (if you haven't already) in your notes, to organize your thoughts. An outline complete with sections, like those listed in the article contents at the top of the page. Maybe put a little abstract of possible content in the individual sections, and publish it in a sandbox so everyone can see it and make suggestions or edit it. What do you think? Carlstak (talk) 01:23, 19 February 2025 (UTC) [reply ]
- Have you completely lost your mind? No way is that ever going to happen. Everyone can already edit the article itself. Present good sources, Be Bold, and do your own work. That's sufficient. :-( Jenhawk777 (talk) 05:27, 19 February 2025 (UTC) [reply ]
- Whatever you say, Jenhawk777. (Shock. Dismay.;-)
- You asked, "My question goes back to: should our content reflect that or not; if yes, how much?" Then you said, "I think we are going to have to decide for ourselves how much and what to include. I'm just going to start. Feel free to jump in."
- Who is "ourselves"? If the goal is shooting for FA at some point, I was thinking you would want to shepherd the process—otherwise progress is made only in fits and starts and there will be endless regressions. Not to mention diversions by the occasional drive-by troublemakers. All that would probably happen anyway even with shepherding, but with anarchy it would seem to be much worse.
- This drive has been going on for almost a year and no end in sight, and you're inviting editors to run amuck? You've made 8324 edits to the article. Is this your career?
- You started off on the talk page with this comment: "First off let me say this is a phenomenal article. Cudos to everyone who has contributed. IMO it just needs a little updating here and there." Pardon me, but in light of what you've done since, I find that quite humorous. And you're asking me if I'm crazy? If I'd done that much work on an article and it was still unfinished the guys in white coats would have to wrap me in a straight jacket. (They're actually not that uncomfortable.;-) Carlstak (talk) 06:26, 19 February 2025 (UTC) [reply ]
- LOL! YES! It has turned into a second career! I had no idea when I started this how much other editors thought it needed - and I would not have known if I hadn't made it a FAC. It hasn't been a year. It's been over two years. WP works on consensus, so it is absolutely necessary that others contribute and are eventually reasonably satisfied with the result. Carlstak this discussion is more personal than content related, so I think it should be moved to my Talk page, is that okay with you? Jenhawk777 (talk) 17:47, 19 February 2025 (UTC) [reply ]
- I'm done. Carlstak (talk) 18:42, 19 February 2025 (UTC) [reply ]
- Okay, but it's here now, and can be pursued at will. Jenhawk777 (talk) 19:08, 19 February 2025 (UTC) [reply ]

Can I write about myself? --Abir Alam (talk) 07:22, 26 February 2025 (UTC) [reply ]
- If there are sufficient number of quality secondary seources that have written about you that you can reference, yes. You may not be your own reference. You are a primary source and WP doesn't use primary sources. Jenhawk777 (talk) 20:26, 26 February 2025 (UTC) [reply ]
"And for two decades, a long time in tech years, it has stayed true to its crowdsourced, democratic ethos and to its commitment to facts. In 2025 America, that counts as a beacon of hope."
