OpenRefine
"This course is an introduction to using OpenRefine to make bulk edits to Wikidata. It is designed for those who have some knowledge of Wikidata, and who have done at least some manual editing of Wikidata already. No prior knowledge of OpenRefine is required.
The course covers some basic OpenRefine tasks such as faceting, moving and renaming columns, reconciliation, creating a schema, and creating new columns from reconciled values. We show you how to make bulk edits to existing Wikidata items, as well as how to create new items. We also cover how to use OpenRefine to look for gaps on Wikidata.
This is a short course which we estimate would take around 4 hours to complete."

Today I remember a singer who impressed me on stage. -- Gerda Arendt (talk) 21:39, 6 November 2025 (UTC) [reply ]
- Oooooooo lovely Gerda!!! thank youou! I do not yet know how you code these story stories!
- SO INSPIRING!!
- I adore the musicality of Eike Wilm Schulte's name, beautiful. His name just floats off the tongue! His parents must have been very musically inclined, I will learn more...
- I imagine that, as a singer, one must have a beautiful soul, as it is impossible to hide oneself and one's spirit in voice.
- I am currently in a 9 month mentorship working with a performance artist who follows the practices of Fides Krucker, a contemporary opera singer. I see that Fides Krucker needs a website article and will add this to my list of fab souls to honour.
- Thank you so much for these glorious stories that you share!!! I fell very lucky to learn about them all.
- In warm appreciation, I&I22 (talk) 13:21, 7 November 2025 (UTC) [reply ]
- Lovely. For Fides Krucker, there's not much yet, but this looks good. Reviews and newspapers would be better. We can't build on someones website as you will have been told. - I began the stories when I became frustrated with DYK (Did you know ...? allegedly). I go by anniversaries of DYK, birth dates, such things, and all those who recently died and went to the main page. Today: birthday of a friend. In the video, you can see us perform from Brahms Requiem, conducted by the son of the birthday child. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 16:29, 7 November 2025 (UTC) [reply ]
- OOOOOooooo I understand your frustration re DYK as so many amazing things are left off and wowee it can be such a struggle to have them published. What I find most annoying is that ppl dare to talk about "apolitical neutrality" pfff there is no such thing ha!
- Yes, absolutely re Fides Krucker, there are many books, articles and documentaries that cite her work, just no one has bothered to write her into Wikipedia yet! I just posted her website for you to see her work.
- I will watch your Brahms video!
- Bon samedi <3<3<3 I&I22 (talk) 12:26, 8 November 2025 (UTC) [reply ]
- mmm I cannot see the Brahms video, I see the lovely Sister Stan November 8th and not the story for the 7th. I&I22 (talk) 12:33, 8 November 2025 (UTC) [reply ]
- I came to tell you about the lovely sister ;) - Stories are archived, look at the bottom of any one and look there for the day or the topic when I forget to supply the link to the archive. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 20:18, 8 November 2025 (UTC) [reply ]

- I have three more biographies on the main page today, miss a fourth one, nominated a fifth, that means little time for other matters. My places now include La Scala, - see music, Verdi three times, and twice in my story! --Gerda Arendt (talk) 16:44, 18 November 2025 (UTC) [reply ]
- Lovely and thank you @Gerda Arendt! I enjoyed reading about Gisela Bock. I resonate very much with her observation of
- "during which she became interested in history as a science about people". I feel that theatre is also a very precise study of what it is to be human. I will look at your La Scala music thank yououuouoouu and hope all is well and sunny in your very busy Wiki-world. Warmest wishes, I&I22 (talk) 20:44, 19 November 2025 (UTC) [reply ]

- I ❤️ it!!!! Thank you Gerda 🙏🏾. Reminds me a bit the film Babette's feast. I&I22 (talk) 01:41, 25 November 2025 (UTC) [reply ]
- I like that! (But Babette's feast was top cuisine, and this looks rather basic.) - I copy and hold as draft what is in danger to be deleted. You'll have to make an edit every 5 months to keep that alive. I struggled with articles of two composers today and even got them confused because of similar studies. One died, the other will be 90 in two days. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 20:55, 25 November 2025 (UTC) [reply ]
- Thank you so much Gerda.
- I am a bit furious and probably need to take a break from Wikipedia.
- The system is antiquated and needs updating. I am tired of ppl claiming that Wikipedia is neutral and doesn't lead. I understand what they mean and also feel that they don't question enough or advocate to update Wikipedia to be even better and more inclusive.
- I am tried of putting in tons of time and then when passionate am accused of making money.
- There are more important things than money, my goodness!
- TIME and EFFORT and acknowledging people's great efforts are far more important than stupid money! It's sooooooo ridiculous and capitalistic and immature to assume money rules and motivates all.
- Re: the illustration & film comparison Excuse me, I didn't explain myself enough. I am an artist who loves to work in analogue the most. The drawing is beautiful and poetic and feels honest and joyous and community-minded and poetic. It is these qualities of the drawing that reminded me of the film, Babette's feast.
- Ever warmly, I&I22 (talk) 21:22, 25 November 2025 (UTC) [reply ]
- Got it, thank you for explaining. I had two articles deleted, not including the first which was rescued by a helpful soul, and I've seen many by others deleted that I thought were informative. I had one marked "too many primary sources", and some years later there was a secondary source. I had to mark articles with COI templates for the reason of friendship (including that first one, where I was just filling a red link), and money was suspected. It hurts, I know. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 22:17, 25 November 2025 (UTC) [reply ]

- Thank you, I remembered that there was a strange symbol that I had copied before...doesn't matter.
- Anyways done! And thanks again. I don't want to restore the page. It was messy anyways. From now will focus on maintaining a minimum.

I needed a moment to understand, and then realised that you probably read before I updated. I had too much to add (and no end in sight) to today's birthday child, who is mentioned in all the German papers. I like that he was featured already in a DYK hook I made in 2010, for another birthday, - I was there and three composers of the five mentioned (but not Lachenmann and Rihm whose music was also played), - many reasons to be thankful! --Gerda Arendt (talk) 10:50, 27 November 2025 (UTC) [reply ]

- I brought Wozzeck to the main page, not by me but I noticed the quality and the centenary. Enjoy plenty of music, three events in about 24 hours including 5 Bach cantatas and his Magnificat with the Christmas interpolations. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 21:37, 14 December 2025 (UTC) [reply ]

- You said that sooo well, thank you! You can add youtube links like other external links, in single straight brackets: the link, a space and the title, or you can us {{YouTube }}. Use both sparsely, and especially in article space be careful to only use those with a proper license. I have a DYK today, but am not happy about the wording which is normal ;) (It's as if we' say: The music of Beethoven was praised by two emperors of Austria-Hungary.) - Great woman with a man's name! --Gerda Arendt (talk) 07:23, 3 January 2026 (UTC) [reply ]
Notes re Interesting Wikipedia Resources convo -Teahouse conversation: Understanding translation autocreation feature and drafts
[edit ]I am looking for insights on: How do I shift wip published (and rejected) articles to my draft space? I was translating an article and published it - but it's not really ready to be published yet. It was nominated for speedy deletion.
Any insights are welcome thank you! I&I22 (talk) 15:57, 2 January 2026 (UTC)Reply

Well, I care a lot about protecting cultural legacies. I am very mediocre as an editor and basically fail my way to success hahahah o bbboy. Eventually it all works out. Very kind of you to encourage my imperfect attempts at being useful. I don't know what to say as am so ordinary. Thank yououuouou, I&I22 (talk) 16:23, 2 January 2026 (UTC)Reply @I&I22. It's true, you love Wikipedia so much, so learn Wikipedia rules like a pro! (Iluziya7 (talk) 16:28, 2 January 2026 (UTC))Reply I think failing your way to success is (at least in some sense) the only way to success. Learning how to prevent certain kinds of failure from happening again is always a good thing, as is making improvements to strategy, but still ... if you don't put yourself open to failing, then you accomplish nothing. Sometimes a person succeeds on their first attempt at something, but the risk of failing was still with them. TooManyFingers (he/him · talk) 16:37, 2 January 2026 (UTC)Reply @TooManyFingersyessssss! It's quite anarchistic and experiential learning and I enjoy the process! thank youou for sharing your thoughts and providing encouragements I&I22 (talk) 16:54, 2 January 2026 (UTC)Reply @I&I22: I removed the notice, so you don't have to worry about it being deleted anymore. Good luck with your draft! S.G. (They/Them) (Talk) (Edits) 16:56, 2 January 2026 (UTC)Reply
@User:I&I22: It would be so awesome to have the option to choose saving a translation in drafts instead of just jumping into publishing. For proposed article "XYZ" you could start directly at "Draft:XYZ". Feline Hymnic (talk) 16:32, 2 January 2026 (UTC)Reply @Feline Hymnic. You're right! Are you using the Content Translation tool to translate? If so, it does save your work in the tool, so if you haven't finished, you can do that. Or if you have page mover rights (I don't remember if that's autoconfirmed or extended confirmed) you can hit publish and then immediately move page to Draft:Title as explained above. SomeoneDreaming (talk) 04:20, 3 January 2026 (UTC)Reply @SomeoneDreaming I was in the content translation and then manually adding my own translations, but it was incomplete and only saw the 'publish' option, not a 'save draft' option. I do not think that I have page mover rights as yet, not sure...someone else kindly moved the page for me though. I like to offer translation, so am wondering how to avoid this misstep in the future - beyond copy pasting to sandbox. I will figure it out! Thank you so much everyone :) I&I22 (talk) 05:10, 3 January 2026 (UTC)Reply @I&I22, 'publish' really just means 'save work' - it is supposed to make it clear that when you press that button, your work becomes visible to everyone on the internet (if they know where to look anyway). It sounds like you accidentally made a draft page in the 'main' namespace, so it looked like you were saying it was a finished article before it was ready. What you can do instead is use the WP:Article wizard, which I'm pretty sure automatically puts things into the 'draft' namespace and gets the Wikipedia code set up for you. The other option is that you can create a page by searching for "Draft:Subject" (replacing Subject with what you're writing about), which will tell you the page doesn't exist, and from that you can create a new draft. So for example I'm interested in writing an article about artists called the Numina Sisters, so I would put "Draft:Numina Sisters" in the search bar and then select the red link Draft:Numina Sisters. If you choose this second option, you'll need to put at the very top of your draft so that you get the magic submission button to show up. Once your draft is ready for review, you simply press that button and your draft will go into the review pool. Meadowlark (talk) 10:15, 3 January 2026 (UTC)Reply YahooOoOooo thank you @Meadowlark! This info is gold. Love all this learning and sharing of knowledge. Much thanks and to you too @SomeoneDreaming. Very cool community Wikipedia is! I&I22 (talk) 13:57, 3 January 2026 (UTC)Reply @I&I22: Oh, and here's another place where your potential articles could go: Help:Userspace draft. Unlike regular drafts, userspace drafts usually aren't deleted if an editor doesn't edit them for a while (aka 6 months). This is what the articles I make usually start off as. This still allows you to submit it for review as well. Of course, feel free to choose between a userspace draft and a draftspace one. S.G. (They/Them) (Talk) (Edits) 14:00, 3 January 2026 (UTC)Reply aha! Thank you for clarifying this @SignedInteger. I was a bit confused re these different spaces - I have always created work in drafts spaces and once I had copy pasted some collected text, quotes and was told off that it was plagiarism, even though I thought it was a "private-ish" draft space. So now I understand what was going on a a bit better thank you. I might copy pooaste all these hot tips to my user page, as I remember how to do everything better when it's in these conversational contexts. I will de-activate the tags/pings of you all though. In the content translation tool I believe it saves automatically. SomeoneDreaming (talk) 11:57, 3 January 2026 (UTC)Reply I&I22 (talk) 21:50, 3 January 2026 (UTC) [reply ]
