User:PC-XT
This is my home user page. I also have a general one on meta:User:PC-XT. All projects I have joined can be seen with SULutil or CentralAuth. All my contributions on these projects can be seen with Luxo's tool. I have fun here. Thanks. :)
Hello
[edit ]So, after using Wikipedia for years, I finally registered! Then, I had writer's block. :P So, I looked into userboxes... Now, I'm Type A. :S
Contribution summary
[edit ]I believe a balance of creativity, organization, and pruning are necessary. Though I am involved in deletion, I don't consider myself a deletionist. I prefer helping to save things from deletion.
Sometimes, I do all on the same page, as with {{Troon F.C. seasons }}
Amusing edits
[edit ]- Special:Diff/599468956 and edits leading up to it (It looks like this is common enough to be automatically fixed by a bot: Special:Diff/591200695)
- My favorite April Fools' Day edit for 2014
- Spidersmilk gave me a link to this hoax edit about not drinking Lake Michigan.
What I've learned
[edit ]- Check for previous discussions that may look different before !voting
- Preview talk messages before posting, even if they are relatively short, (not that all mistakes can be avoided, and I know I'll still forget to preview, sometimes, but I don't want to substitute a whole page of Lua into the middle of my reply. Haha. Escaping urls can also be a problem.)
- Don't mess up the testcases! If something goes wrong, do a full revert to the last stable version and make sure the testcases are accurate before using them.
- This is intended to be where I list lessons learned. There are more, but I'm too lazy to list them, now.
KIS
[edit ]I like WP:Keep It Simple better...
I like WP:Keep It Simple better than WP:Userboxes, but there are not enough of them. I found how to make some, and started:
- User:PC-XT/KIS for testing and planning for the migration discussed at Wikipedia:Templates_for_discussion/Log/2013_February_6#Template:User_label.
- merging the KIS barnstar forks back into the original {{WP:KIS/Barnstar}} (which I moved from {{WP:KIS/Blueprint Barnstar}})
Userboxes
[edit ]Skill
[edit ]The first language I knew of was TI-BASIC.
The first language I actually understood was DOS BATCH.
My secondary programming language was BASIC.
My tertiary programming language was 8086 machine code and assembler. I am more familiar with Intel syntax than AT&T.
I like scripting dynamic projects.
I used to make games in AppleScript, such as a variation of Hunt the Wumpus, and that learning question game. However, since my Mac broke, I've gotten rusty. :/
I also like compiling executables.
Even bytecode :P
I'm not as skilled in the following. I usually translate out of them.
I also might be able to use ActionScript, but never tried.
I don't like Visual Basic or .NET very much, though I sometimes encounter them.
