Tips for new editors

• Visit the Teahouse — it's a great place to have a cup of coffee!
• A minor edit does not mean a 'small' edit. "Checking the minor edit box signifies that the current and previous versions differ only superficially ... in a way that no editor would be expected to regard as disputable" and "any change affecting an article's meaning is not minor, even if it concerns a single word." So, before checking that minor edit box, make sure your edit is in fact minor. Not sure if your edit is minor? Better to not mark it as minor then.
