Bdzigost, Bedgost ([bˈd͡ʑigɔst], [ˈbɛdgɔst]) is an Old Polish male given name. It is composed of two words: bdzi- ("cause one to be alert", also: budzić, "awake") and -gost ("to host", "guest"). It therefore has the meaning "awakening guests."
The root bdeti occurred in Old Polish names in two forms: budzi- and byd- (the latter preserved in the name of the city of Bydgoszcz)[1] .
