hi my name is kobcat (/kɒbkɑːt/ k-o-b-k-ah-t)
About me
[edit ]my infobox has a bit of stuff about me, some of which i'll probably talk about further in my userpage
What I like to do
[edit ]Tropical cyclones
[edit ]i mainly like to track tropical cyclones in my free time, particularly in the atlantic and west pacific
in 2017 i got affected by ex-hurricane ophelia, which was my first remembered experience of being hit by an ex-hurricane. i mainly remember the red skies that it caused as i was vacationing in england.
the first time i genuinely had heard of a tropical cyclone was 2020, after my parents had told me about hurricane laura hitting louisiana so that led to me first tracking tropical cyclones back in 2021, with my first somewhat tracked tropical cyclone being hurricane elsa of that same year. that same year i also tracked fred, ida, sam, and wanda. after 2021 i took a break from tropical cyclone tracking as i hadnt really been as interested in it anymore until 2024 when i got back into it
in early 2024, i had gotten back into tropical cyclone tracking/research and decided i would track the entirety of the 2024 atlantic hurricane season, which i did eventually end up doing. i also tracked some typhoons after the break/lull that happened during the season, mainly gaemi/carina and prapiroon/butchoy. i also tracked yagi/enteng during the season.
Future
[edit ]im planning on tracking the entire 2025 atlantic hurricane season, along with keeping a bunch of data related to it. im also planning doing my own analysis during the season to get all of the data and id maybe even consider a post season analysis. im basically planning on turning weather/tropical cyclones into something big later in my life
