User:PleaseStand
I am a Wikipedia editor who has contributed to articles about technical subjects – electronics, computer science, construction, and related fields. I am also a MediaWiki developer with +2 access. I began editing under this username in October 2009, when I added some information to the article NEMA connector. You can leave a message for me at User talk:PleaseStand.
Content work
I often correct spelling, grammar, usage, and style issues in existing articles and sometimes create or expand new articles. Some have appeared on the main page. Did you know...
- ... that Columbia University failed to turn a profit on Fathom.com , an early online learning website?
- ... that the cheater plug has been used to remedy ground loops in audio systems, with reckless disregard of electrical safety?
- ... that fume hoods are not biosafety cabinets , and vice-versa?
Technical work
I have created several user scripts that simplify or enhance common Wikipedia editing tasks. I also sometimes answer questions at the help desk or the technical section of the village pump.
List of user scripts
- References segregator
- Temporarily moves footnotes to a separate text box on the edit screen, adding them back in when the page is saved. (For use with the source editor, not VisualEditor.)
- Comment highlighter
- Highlights comments you had posted on talk pages.
- User info
- Adds some extra information to user and user talk pages: gender, rights, account age, and edit count.
- Hide Vector sidebar
- Hides the page's sidebar, allowing you to expand it only when necessary. (For use with the default "Vector" skin.)
Barnstars / awards
Awesome job on making this script. I hope Wikipedia eventually allows you to hide the sidebar as a built-in option.

This Barnstar is awarded to PleaseStand. Thank you for taking the time to answer my CSS question, that was incredibly kind. I have seen you around, and you are always so helpful to other editors. Editors like yourself, who selflessly help others is the foundation of this project. Adamtheclown (talk) 00:28, 28 June 2010 (UTC)
You've been rewarded one of the indispensable puzzle pieces of the Wikipedia puzzle!
You and everything you have done make up one piece of the Wikipedia puzzle.
Each piece is important to the puzzle and without each, Wikipedia would not be complete.
You really are one of the finest coders I've ever come across on wikipedia. Thankyou!! Dr. Blofeld White cat 13:26, 3 May 2010 (UTC)
