This is a list of notable automobile manufacturers and their marques with articles on Wikipedia and with at least one passenger car currently in production.
Criteria
[edit ]For the purposes of this list, a current and notable automobile manufacturer is defined as a company that:
- constructs vehicles principally for retail sale to consumers, for their personal use, to transport people on public roads (no commercial or industrial vehicles are eligible)
- has vehicles currently available for commercial sale to the public
- has a unique World Manufacturer Identifier (WMI) assigned by the SAE International
- produces cars that are street legal in their intended markets
