The Caloric Porous Structure Cell is an aluminum oxide-based ceramic heat cell[1] . When given a fuel of any kind and then premixed with air, the fuel is vaporized producing extremely low emissions[1] . The cell structure has pores that are designed to prevent the fuel from combusting[1] . Combustion produces the rapid increase in emissions of chemicals like hydrocarbons (HC), carbon monoxide (CO), and nitrous oxides (NOx). In some applications it is stated that hydrocarbon emissions can't be detected[1] . It has also been claimed that carbon monoxide and nitrous oxides emissions were well below 10 parts per million meaning that the ceramic heat cells cut emission levels by 50%[1] .
