Toolsidas Junior is a 2022 Indian Hindi-language sports film written and directed by Mridul Mahendra, who based it on his own life and childhood. Produced jointly by Bhushan Kumar and Krishan Kumar under T-Series Films along with Sunita Gowariker and co-screenwriter Ashutosh Gowariker in his first production-only venture under Ashutosh Gowariker Productions, the film stars Sanjay Dutt, Rajiv Kapoor, Dalip Tahil and debutante Varun Buddhadev in the lead roles, while Ankur Vikal, Chinmai Chandrashuh, Tasveer Kamil and Sara Arjun play supporting roles.[1] The film marks the posthumous and final film appearance of Rajiv Kapoor who died in February 2021, shortly after completing filming. Toolsidas Junior was initially scheduled to release in cinemas on 4 March 2022.[3] Eventually, it was released on television and digital platforms.[4] At the 68th National Film Awards, it won the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Hindi, and Buddhadev was awarded the National Jury Award — Special Mention.
Synopsis
[edit ]Toolsidas is a snooker player who only plays for his son Midi. In the final, his opponent Jimmy Tandon serves him drinks and he ultimately loses.This hurts Midi a lot and decides that he will put his dad's name on the winners board. Tutu Bose , a committee member teaches him the basics of snooker.Goti,Midis elder brother wants him to become rich. Tutu suggests that Midi should learn the game from YMC people. YMC Wellington is a place not suitable for kids as people smoke and swear there though they are solid players. Midi convinces his brother to finance him everyday to go there.There, he meets Muhammad Salaam,a former wc champion.Salaam Bhai teaches Midi snooker everyday. It is time for the championship and Midi wants to take part in it though u-16 isn't allowed.He proves that he is an eligible player by winning a snooker match against a comitee.Soon, he wins all matches.When he does walkover,Salaam Bhai gets very angry and narrates how he skipped meals to play one game of snooker.Midi wins a thrilling semifinal against his own father.In the final ,Jimmy again cheats but Midi wins against all odds making his dad,Salaam Bhai proud .Finally he brings his dad name on the board by the name" Toolsidas Junior".

Release
[edit ]Due to the Covid-19 Pandemic, Toolsidas Junior had a direct-to-television world release, a rare instance at the time, on Sony Max, premiering on 23 May 2022. On 25 May 2022, just two days after its television premiere, the film was made available for streaming on Netflix.[6]
Music
[edit ]The film has only one song, composed by Daniel B. George, who also wrote the background score. Titled "Udd Chala", the song is sung by Sachet Tandon and Ujjwal Kashyap, with lyrics by Swanand Kirkire.
