{{Infobox road }} has an option to implement multiple sections of a road. However, I don't see any option in this template. Did I overlook something? Or can the same options be utilized here? Morriswa (Charlotte Allison) (talk) 15:00, 5 March 2020 (UTC) Reply
Hallo, would it be possible to add a parameter to mention the patron of the street? Thanks, Alex2006 (talk) 06:01, 2 February 2021 (UTC) Reply
I have started a discussion at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Infoboxes §native name parameters, you participation would be appreciated.

- As a result of the above referenced discussion, I have modified this template and fixed most of the attendant errors. Some errors I have not fixed. Articles with native name errors are listed in Category:Native name checker template errors. In a day or so, I will move on to another infobox template so if you are able to fix the errors listed in the category, now is the time because errors associated with
{{infobox valley }}are the only errors listed. - —Trappist the monk (talk) 16:52, 8 January 2022 (UTC) Reply

This template provides a single coordinates parameter. Are these the coordinates of the street's midpoint or one of its termini? Could this infobox function like {{Infobox river }} and provide two parameters, one for each terminus? Ibadibam (talk) 17:16, 10 August 2022 (UTC) Reply
- Generally for roads, and other similar linear features, we use {{Attached KML }} or geoJSON for this exact reason. KMLs can be made fairly easily with Google Earth. - Floydian τ ¢ 22:27, 10 August 2022 (UTC) Reply
What does the metro_system field do? I added the name of the bus company on a street today, but it did not appear on the page. I don't see anything about it in the documentation on this page either. Kire1975 (talk) 17:41, 28 June 2023 (UTC) Reply
|metro_system=changes the label for the|metro=param; if it is provided, givesNearest {{{metro_system}}} station, otherwise it just givesNearest metro station. Primefac (talk) 07:57, 29 June 2023 (UTC) Reply
Is this the correct place to report that the map is always blank in this infobox? Like, for years. Abductive (reasoning) 12:05, 17 December 2024 (UTC) Reply
- @Abductive: Could you supply an example? I just added two different map tests to the test cases, and they both work. — hike395 (talk) 03:47, 18 December 2024 (UTC) Reply
- @Hike395: Sure, 4th Street (Manhattan), Rivington Street, Grand Concourse (Bronx) and many others in New York City. Abductive (reasoning) 10:23, 18 December 2024 (UTC) Reply
- @Abductive: The problem isn't with this template: it's in Module:Mapframe. When there is no map data available, it appears that Module:Mapframe returns a blank map rather than nothing. Editor(s) have added
|image_map={{maplink-road}}to those infoboxes without checking that they work. I'll see if I can modify Module:Mapframe to return nothing rather than a blank map. — hike395 (talk) 14:39, 18 December 2024 (UTC) Reply- Great. Here I was thinking it had to do with mixing up New York City with its constituent boroughs. Abductive (reasoning) 14:42, 18 December 2024 (UTC) Reply
- The problem isn't in Module:Mapframe, but in the Kartographer extension in MediaWiki. All Module:Mapframe does is format requests to the extension. The extension decides to return a blank map. There's no way for me to fix it. I would recommend removing
|image_map=when you see blank map. — hike395 (talk) 15:52, 18 December 2024 (UTC) Reply- Map is broken for New Hampshire Avenue despite not having "image_map" parameter. Qbli2mHd (talk) 10:13, 27 December 2025 (UTC) Reply
- Fixed by putting coordinates into infobox. — hike395 (talk) 15:03, 27 December 2025 (UTC) Reply
- The situational fix is welcome, but the underlying problem is more important: interactive map centered at 0 N 0 S should never be displayed. Qbli2mHd (talk) 17:41, 27 December 2025 (UTC) Reply
- I'll take a look at it, but it may also be a Kartographer problem. — hike395 (talk) 00:40, 28 December 2025 (UTC) Reply
As I had feared, the problem is either in Module:Mapframe or in Kartographer itself. The correct parameters are being passed to Module:Mapframe -- and there is valid OpenStreetMap data. It's just refusing to draw it correctly. — hike395 (talk) 03:05, 28 December 2025 (UTC) Reply- Found the problem: it's inconsistent data between Wikidata and OpenStreetMap. Wikidata claims OpenStreetMap has the data for the street, while OSM doesn't link back to Wikidata. This causes Kartographer to get confused. There's no way that I know of to check this, because the data inside of OpenStreetMap is opaque to code running in WP. I'll delete the Wikidata link. This is just innate fragility in the way Kartographer works, I'm afraid. — hike395 (talk) 08:34, 28 December 2025 (UTC) Reply

As part of a larger refactor of Module:Location map, I will be refactoring the way that this Infobox calls the location map code. The only noticeable change for most will be that the parameter names related to the pushpin maps will now all start with |pushpin_...=. This is part of a larger effort to make things consistent across Infoboxes. When this is done, ALL infoboxes using pushpin maps will use the same parameters. For more information about this, please see this post. As part of this cleanup, I am also going to resolving any conflicting parameters that I can find and cleaning up parameter names that fail to conform to MOS:INFOBOXNAME. Note that this follows a long list of similar clean ups that I have done on countless other Infoboxes. The parameters I plan to replace are the following:
| Deprecate | Replace with |
|---|---|
|alternate_name= |
|other_name= |
|map_type= |
|pushpin_map= |
|map= |
|image_map= |
|surface_area= |
|area= |
Please chime in below with any questions, comments or concerns about this cleanup. Zackmann (Talk to me /What I been doing ) 03:43, 11 July 2026 (UTC) Reply
