Turkey is a Southern European Country!

[edit ]

Turkey historically and socio-politically belongs to Europe. As result of this, European Union accepts Turkey as a official candidate country. Please see click the link below to see the official European countries. Apart from that, Turkey is a member of European Council and NATO.

If we think about the origins of the people in Europe; Finns, Hungarians and many others have their different roots from Central Asia, however this does not make them non-European.

Please put your unneutral opinions about Turkey and be more objective! — Preceding unsigned comment added by NadirTV (talkcontribs) 20:07, 22 September 2013 (UTC) [reply ]

The Caucasus in Eastern Europe?

[edit ]

I feel that categorizing the Caucasus countries as part of Eastern Europe isn't entirely accurate. While geopolitics and the Soviet Union's history have influenced the region, the Caucasus' historical roots are deeply tied to Western Asia, particularly Iran and Turkey. Azerbaijan, for instance, has been historically and culturally connected to Iran, with a significant presence of Azeri people in Iran. Armenia, too, shares a rich history with its West Asian neighbors. The Caucasus is distinct from Eastern Europe and are not Eastern European in the same way that Russia and Belarus are. To be more accurate and respectful, I believe the Caucasus should be recognized in its own category, rather than being lumped together with Eastern Europe. This distinction is also reflected in other frameworks, such as the template for European diasporas here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Template:European_diasporas, which does not group the Caucasus with Eastern Europe. Various political and geopolitical, and a few geographic definitions place the Caucasus nations either entirely or partially in Eastern Europe, therefore, their inclusion within the category is perfectly acceptable. Archives908 (talk) 16:54, 18 February 2025 (UTC) [reply ]
However, taking your point into consideration, I added "Caucasus" to the definition in order to better distinguish the countries. Archives908 (talk) 16:56, 18 February 2025 (UTC) [reply ]
