Major airports in Italy
[edit ]By definition, a major airport is classified as an airport with more than 50,000 movements a year[1] . Analyzing Assaeroporti's data[2] for the year 2019, the movements of some airports are quite over 50,000, so should they be classified and put in the template as a major airport? These are Milan Bergamo, Catania, Milan Linate, Palermo, Naples, Rome Ciampino and Venice. Are there other criteria that define what a major airport is Wikipedia-wise? Thanks in advance. 2A02:670:2027:7701:B99C:B741:F197:E1D7 (talk) 18:41, 21 November 2024 (UTC) [reply ]
- I'd like to see a much more robust and more open definition with evidence that it is widely accepted, compared to just a single commercial website trying to sell its own services and which does not seem to publish its sources. As Italy is an EU member state, perhaps you could show a reference to some confirmation that came from either the EU Parliament or the European Court of Justice which we can discuss ? In any case, on these wikipedia pages, we often use 'major' in relative terms - the largest airport in a small country (e.g. Luxembourg) might be considered equivalent in size to a small airport in a large country (e.g. France). On these airport termplate pages, it is usually more helpful to show which airports in a single country are larger or smaller - on this Italy page we try to distinguish the larger airports in Italy from the smaller airports in Italy - we are not trying to compare airports in Italy with airports in Luxembourg.
