This template should always be substituted (i.e., use

). Any accidental transclusions will be automatically substituted by a bot. This template may have no transclusions. This is because it is substituted by a tool or script, it is used as part of a short-term or less active Wikipedia process, or for some other reason.
Converts a roman numeral to an ordinal century, so 'XIX' ⟶ '19th century'. It also accepts Arabic numbers, within reason, and will output invalid input unchanged without error messages. Caveat editor.

Parameters

– a roman numeral between I and XXV
|short=
– if present, emits 'c.' instead of the word 'century'. Alias: 'abbr'.
