Warning This template is used on approximately 10,000 pages and changes may be widely noticed. Test changes in the template's /sandbox or /testcases subpages, or in your own user subpage. Consider discussing changes on the talk page before implementing them.

This template may be used on the talk page of a Wikipedia user who has been a longer-term contributor but has not been active on Wikipedia in the past few months/years.

It is not intended to be used on user pages, or on talk pages of editors who have announced their departure (as the goodbye message is there for everyone to see). Rather, it should be used to inform editors that the user in question has not been active for a long time, and that they may not reply to any messages or questions.

It is generally not advisable to add this template to the talk page of any Wikipedia user who has stopped editing for a short amount of time. Wait at least three months before listing someone who has simply ceased editing.

This template populates Category:Wikipedians who opt out of message delivery and Category:Wikipedians who opt out of template messages.

Usage

Parameters

All parameters are optional.

|1=: The first parameter (status) replaces "may have left Wikipedia" portion of the template message.
|2=username: Second parameter replaces the default username (taken from the page title).
|date= (alias |3=): Parameter date adds a date for the editor's last edits (which can be in any human-readable format).
