Template:Don't edit this line parent

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Template documentation[view] [edit] [history] [purge]
The "Don't edit this line XXX" templates are a core part of the automated taxobox system, and so high use, but as of January 2019[update] , the tool did not count their transclusions, as they are only used from Lua.
This template may have no transclusions. This is because LUA tranclusions are not tracked by the tool.
Warning This template is used on approximately 554,000 pages, or roughly 1% of all pages .
To avoid major disruption and server load, any changes should be tested in the template's /sandbox or /testcases subpages, or in your own user subpage. The tested changes can be added to this page in a single edit. Consider discussing changes on the talk page before implementing them.

Usage

Templates in the "Don't edit this line XXX" family are used to extract information from a taxonomy template (i.e. a template whose name is of the form "Template:Taxonomy/taxon"). They are invoked by calling a taxonomy template with |machine code=XXX, since the first line of every taxonomy template begins

{{Don't edit this line {{{machine code|}}}|...

They are intended only for use by the automated taxobox system. They are mostly used from within Module:Autotaxobox.
