Purpose
This template provides a quick and easy method of directly linking to specific sections in Census in Australia, which is linked to from more than 7,600 predominantly Australian articles. In particular, the pop_year parameter of {{Infobox Australian place }} links to sections in Census in Australia dealing with specific census years.
